  • Pretty Darned Happy With These...And I'm A Graphics Guy
Color: White Size: 11x14
Given some others' experiences, I was a bit leary, but took the plunge on two packs of white 11x14 frames and am glad I did. My mother-in-law is going into assisted living and, though the facility is letting her to try to keep her dog, we fear this may not work out long-term. So, I printed high-res, glossy photos of her dog and wanted these frames to put them in, the thinking being that even if the doggie is taken away (to be rehomed with a family member, not relinquished), the doggie photos will already have been in place and it will be as if the doggie is sort of still there. What appealed to me is that these frames are lightweight plastic, not heavy wood, and less likely to harm if they were to fall; have plastic, not glass, inserts and the plastic has protective covering for shipping; are inexpensive; are available in the size I desired; and were available for next-day Prime delivery. Win. The frames I received were very well packed and arrived in top condition, unlike some others' orders. I noticed no obvious flaws or poor construction. I printed the doggie photos on one of my Canon Pro100s and on my favorite glossy photo paper. The paper is 11x17, which doesn't fit the frame, so I sized the images accordingly after doing all my photo manipulation. In InDesign, I added a 1/4" black border around the outside, included in the 3" black box I added at the bottom of each photo for cropping on our oversized paper cutter. I posed a question here on Amazon and was told that the frames overlapped the edges of the images a bit and that I wouldn't see the full 11x14. This is true. I found that just a sliver of my 1/4" black border showed, but only around some edges of some photos in some frames. If I were to reprint the photos, I wouldn't do the black borders; I'd bleed the photos at full 11x14, knowing that I'd lose less than 1/4" of image all around. I share others' concerns about the rivets perhaps poking the photos a bit over time, but there's not a lot of force pushing against the backs of the photos, so hopefully this concern will prove to be moot. I do want to give you a tip about removing the protective covering, as it can be quite difficult to pull off both sides of the plastic "glass." At first, I tried sliding the sharp edge of an X-acto knife in between the protective plastic and the plastic "glass," but I was only intermittently successful with this technique. What I found worked far better and didn't leave any visible marks (due to the fact that the frame occludes <1/4" of the photo AND plastic "glass" all around) was to simply use the point of the knife to spear the protective plastic right at the very corner, then pull at an angle, away from the corner. This released the protective plastic just enough that I could grab it and peel it off. I found this procedure easiest to accomplish if I laid the plastic "glass" across the back of each frame as I was doing it. I used my other hand to hold the frame and plastic down so they didn't slide on the desktop, which could scratch the frame, but you could also just lay down a towel for protection. Note that there is static electricity when you remove the protective plastic and you'll find that little pieces of white plastic from the frames (from when their miters are diecut?) jump right to your now-uncovered plastic "glass." I was able to blow these off, which is preferable to leaving fingerprints by picking them off with your fingers. The photos look great in the frames. I put the protective chipboard corners back on each one, then put them back in the padded plastic and box for transport to the eldercare facility. I did also want to mention that before I boxed them back up, I tried to hook into place one of the hangers included with the frames. I was not able to get it to affix to the attachment thingies on the back of the frame, so I'm going to take #4 finish nails with me for hanging (along with removable blue tape, a pencil, a level and a tape measure, says Mr. OCD). Overall, I'm quite happy with the purchase. I had a better experience than some buyers, apparently, but personally am able to highly recommend these frames. I would definitely purchase them again. ... show more

  • Nice little frames
Color: White Size: 8x10
These picture frames were very nice. However, the only thing that I didn’t like about them was they were a little on even there was some bumpiness in the frame but once they’re up, it didn’t really bother me too much but if you are a perfectionist or up close you will notice that there is a bit of a defect in these. Otherwise it’s a great product looks good. ... show more

  • Plexiglass
Color: White Size: 11x14
plexiglass, not real glass and you have to peel the sticker off both sides of plexi glass with no tab starter and without scratching the glass. almost impossible. didnt know the matte was upside down before i taped a pic to the wrong side. too hard to use. dont waste you money
