Description

The strongest comedic cast in history has united to become the strangest superhero team ever in Mystery Men. They're a ragtag team of superhero wannabes that includes Mr. Furious (Ben Stiller), The Shoveler (William H. Macy), The Blue Raja (Hank Azaria), The Bowler (Janeane Garofalo), The Spleen (Paul Reubens), Invisible Boy (Kel Mitchell) and The Sphinx (Wes Studi). When Captain Amazing (Greg Kinnear) falls into the hands of evil madman Casanova Frankenstein (Geoffrey Rush) and his disco-dancing henchmen, there's suddenly a chance for the aspiring superheroes to show what they can do in this hilariously funny and thoroughly original misadventure. • 🎬 Movie Review: "Mystery Men" 🦸♂️
Its for me, might not be for you. Defiantly a great hero's comedy. "Mystery Men" is a delightful comedy that brings together a quirky ensemble cast and a unique take on the superhero genre. Directed by Kinka Usher, this film offers a refreshing blend of humor, action, and absurdity that is sure to entertain audiences of all ages. At the heart of the film are the "Mystery Men" themselves, a group of unlikely heroes with extraordinary powers but questionable abilities. Led by the charismatic Mr. Furious (played by Ben Stiller), this ragtag team embarks on a mission to save Champion City from the clutches of the villainous Casanova Frankenstein (played by Geoffrey Rush). What sets "Mystery Men" apart is its irreverent humor and clever satire of superhero tropes. From the hilariously inept superheroes to the over-the-top villains, the film revels in its absurdity while delivering plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. Ben Stiller shines in his role as Mr. Furious, bringing his signature comedic charm and impeccable timing to the character. His interactions with the rest of the cast, including William H. Macy, Hank Azaria, and Janeane Garofalo, are a highlight of the film and contribute to its overall charm. While "Mystery Men" may not have achieved the same level of recognition as other superhero films, it has earned a dedicated cult following thanks to its offbeat humor and endearing characters. With its memorable quotes and memorable scenes, it's a film that sticks with you long after the credits roll. In conclusion, "Mystery Men" is a hilarious and underrated gem that deserves a spot in any comedy lover's movie collection. Whether you're a fan of superhero movies or just looking for a good laugh, this film is guaranteed to entertain. ... show more

    • An overlooked gem from Ben Stiller.
If you're tired of superhero movies then you might be ready for this gem of a movie from Ben Stiller. As 'Mr Furious', whose anger endows him with not so super strength, Stiller leads a band of superheroes (including the late great Paul Reubens) in a fight against super evil while satirizing the whole genre. I loved it and its in my permanent collection. Highly recommended. ... show more

    • Great cast. Just a fun watch
Just love the comedy aspect of it. Just some light hearted fun, although when they accidentally kill the supposed super hero, it is a bit gruesome.

    • Hidden Gem!
Not enough people know about this movie, and it’s a shame because it is really a great movie. The all-star cast makes an incredible ensemble!

    • My husband insisted I watch this for some reason
He fell asleep. I, for some reason, kept watching. It’s very much a time and a place movie, so I can’t imagine anyone who wasn’t around in the late 90s/early 2000s enjoying it. RIP Paul Reubens tho </3
