  • Brilliant, still useful, but could benefit from better engineering...
I do LOTS of vinyl click-lock flooring. The last pieces, especially under cabinets, are tough. (Yes I know this wasn't advertised for that kind of floor). Used to use those stupid hammer brackets that bend right away. Used to use a prybar (or two) backed up with scrap so it didn't punch through or dent the drywall or base. Used a lot of tricks... Now a simple lever does it steadily. Only gripe is that the 'hook/claw' is too long, even for hardwood, the 'angle bar' is welded on, errrr, at an angle (quality control?), and the bottom of the main bar has NO PAD TO PROTECT the hardwood they designed it for. Yikes, 3 cents worth of stick-on felt would break the bank?? No biggie; I plan to tap/thread the main bar for a longer 'force-spread bar' anyway, and put a pad on the bottom... Eventually may add a mount for a long extension bar on the front, like a whole-room carpet-stretcher... ... show more

  • Not Ideal for Laminate Flooring Installs
I’m an avid female DIYer and am about 85% finished with a full-house renovation. The last big tasks are painting the kitchen cabinets and laying flooring in my open-concept living space. I ordered the "Hardwood Flooring Jack and Positioning Tool" by MYFULLY to help speed up the process. I’ve been laying laminate, and since the product was advertised as suitable for laminate, I hoped it would help me avoid the metal-on-metal clang of my hammer hitting the pull bar. Unfortunately, this tool didn’t meet my expectations. First, it arrived with no instructions. I had to watch a video for a similar product just to figure out how to use it. That’s when I realized this tool isn't designed well for laminate. The base of the jack is rough and lacks any protective pads. It will definitely scratch your floor unless you add padding. You’ll also need to elevate it off the floor to account for the depth of the claw, which is about an inch. The claw itself is quite large and beveled, which makes it difficult to get a firm grip on laminate boards. When I tried using it with a scrap cutoff, the bevel caused the tool to slip. The product photos show it being used as a stand-alone tool, but to apply force, it has to be braced against a wall. If you're working in the middle of the room, you'll need a 2x4 or something similar to brace it. My floors are floating, so using the jack would risk pushing the planks into the wall where I started and eliminate the expansion gap. Also, with laminate, applying pressure in one area often loosens the boards at the opposite end. It seems like I’d need two of these tools to apply even pressure without compromising the rest of the row. In the end, I feel a little hoodwinked. I can see this probably being useful for a nail-down hardwood install, as long as you're prepared to use a 2x4 brace. But for floating laminate floors, it’s just not practical. It’s back to the pull bar for me. ... show more
