Description

My Wife Is in Paradise, and I'm Here at Walmart What Do I Do Now?One moment, life feels familiar. The next, everything has changed.Whether you've lost a spouse, received a difficult diagnosis, watched a relationship end, retired from a career you loved, or experienced another life-changing event, one question eventually rises to the surface:What do I do now? After sixty-five years together—including sixty years of marriage—Bill Ritchie suddenly found himself asking that same question when his beloved wife, Betty, moved to Paradise. The title came from an unexpected moment in a Walmart aisle, when the reality of life without her came crashing in. She was in Paradise...and he was still here, trying to figure out how to live in a world that had changed forever.Written with the honesty of someone walking the journey—not merely observing it—this book offers practical wisdom, biblical insight, and compassionate encouragement for anyone learning to navigate grief, loss, and life's unexpected turns.Inside you'll discover how to:• Find your footing when life no longer feels familiar. • Navigate grief without losing hope. • Make wise decisions during seasons of change. • Build new rhythms while honoring what you've lost. • Take meaningful steps forward without leaving love behind. This is not a book about "getting over" loss. It's about learning to live faithfully and hopefully through it.Whether you're in the early days of grief or helping someone you love through a difficult season, My Wife Is in Paradise, and I'm Here at Walmart will remind you that while you may not have chosen what changed, you can choose what comes next. One step at a time. • You need the hope this book offers, for your own grief path and to help others their grief path.
Format: Paperback
This book is a quietly powerful memoir about love, loss, and learning to live between grief and hope. Bill Ritchie writes with plainspoken clarity and a tenderness that makes the story feel personal and true. Rather than sentimentalize tragedy, he invites readers into the small, messy work of grieving: the hollow routines of daily life, the sudden, private jolts of memory, and the slow, surprising ways hope can reappear. Why read it? Authentic voice: Ritchie’s frank, unadorned prose creates intimacy. You feel you’re hearing from a friend who refuses platitudes. Emotional honesty: The book captures grief’s contradictions, pain, silliness, numbness, and moments of grace, without forcing a quick resolution. Small moments, big impact: Domestic details and everyday scenes make the loss feel real and relatable rather than abstract. Quietly uplifting arc: This is not a triumphant comeback story; it’s a humane, believable account of learning to carry love forward. Accessible length and pacing: A readable memoir you can finish in an afternoon yet think about for much longer. If you want a sincere, gentle guide through the terrain of mourning, one that honors a life and shows how hope can quietly persist, this book is worth your time. Buy it for its honesty and the comfort of a voice that understands how love endures after loss. Buy it as a guide to walk you through your own grief, prepare you for future grief (we all will face grief), and to give you the tools and insight to walk beside someone else who is learning to live between grief and hope. This book offers tools to help you walk through all grief sources. death, divorce, job loss, or a magnitude of other "lifequakes" that shake the ground under your life. ... show more

  • Great pain, even greater encouragement!!
Format: Paperback
I have personally never had this kind of “Lifequake” but pastored many people through theirs. This book shows me how little I truly understood the depth of what the moments, the quiet, and the loneliness were to those I was ministering to. This book is so pure and raw from someone who has the experience of the moments, the quiet, and the loneliness and is encouraging others with simple ways to carry forward. I’m getting copies for people in my life walking through this. What a blessing this work is!! ... show more

  • Outstanding!
Format: Kindle
This book is, by far, the most helpful book I’ve ever read for those who have suffered a loss of any kind. Its primary context involves the loss of a spouse but it applies to all life’s losses and changes. The honesty and candor of the author is beautifully refreshing and the hope provided will, no doubt, save lives. ... show more

I don't often write reviews, but this book deserves TEN stars. This is like having Bill sit here and talk with me one-on-one. It doesn't get any better than this. Thank you so much for this wonderful book!
