Family/Family fare from a time of much more innocence and decency. There are digs' at the sexism of the 1980's, that are still relevant. Kim Bassinger is splendid in her comic timing that is so natural, and is the fact that she is an alien is so charming. Dan Akroyd is likeable, and relatable. Allison Hanigan shows what a great actor she was from the beginning. I always remembered her tears trying to convince her dad that step-mom is an alien. WE ALL KNOW DAN AYKROYD IS A GREAT COMEDY ACTOR, BUT I NEVER THOUGHT OF KIM BASINGER AS A COMEDY ACTRESS, UNTIL NOW. SHE IS OUTSTANDING! COMBINE HER, AYKROYD, AND A GOOD DIRECTOR WITH A BELIEVABLE SCRIPT (FOR AN S/F STORY) AND YOU HAVE AN EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING FILM. I WON'T SPOIL THE MOVIE BY TELLING YOU THE PLOT,TOO MANY OTHER "REVIEWERS" THINK THAT A REVIEW MEANS TELLING THE WHOLE STORY. SOME ADULT HUMOR, BUT IT IS CAREFULLY DONE.
