A year later, this is a top notch work safety vest. Is it the most expensive? No. Is it the cheapest? No. But for someone who works on commercial boats every day and needs to be protected but at the same time have mobility, this is a fantastic vest. Great especially in the summer heat because of the design. As my husband stated to me, if he were to unexpectedly get tossed into the water unconscious, this vest would save him because of the HIT auto hydrostatic function (automatically inflates upon water impact- not rain though). You can never take your safety or life as you know it for granted because you never know what can happen on a vessel unexpectedly. My husband had his checked with the USCG when he got it and as the product description, was told he's good for 5 (now 4 more) years. The ability to move in this vest helps him to tie up better and just be able to move more freely than a typical PFD. Mustang makes excellent products and this is one of them. I like that there's reflective portions on the vest for visibility at night or inclement weather also. I keep this vest on all day when out on the water. It fits well, is very comfortable, and would recommend for anyone needing a continual wear vest. Also, the price was a lot cheaper than the Marine store that I shop at. Good deal.

    • Mustang Makes Good Gear
This is very good gear for those who want/need a Type V Commercial Inflatable IPV (Inspected Passenger Vessel) vest, or Recreational Type II (offshore) Vest. If you are looking for a recreational Type III (inshore) Vest, The Mustang MD2016 Inflatable is the option I have for my family on our boat. I like everything about that MD2016 Type III PFD. Just to mention it, the USCG recommends you test the Mustang MD2016, and other comparable inflatable vests immediately, and every year before boating season (costs about $35 each time) ... not that anyone ever did that in the history of the world. This particular vest (MD3188) does not have that recommendation ... it is good to go right out of the box for five years. My point being, this better rated vest is less expensive, when you count the rearming kits, if someone is actually going to follow that recommendation. I have a Marine Law Enforcement background and an IPV 100 Ton Masters Certification ... I have no idea why that is, since both models have the red/green indicator to let you know they are charged. ... show more

    • Well worth the investment
I bought this for my husband for Christmas as many of the guys at his job switched to this life jacket. He swears by it and as long as it’s saving his life, that’s all that matters. I thought it was expensive, but in the long run it’s well worth it.

The media could not be loaded. Light weight, fits perfectly by adjusting the buckles, easy to work in, could be cheaper priced since it’s what everyone is using nowadays..

Put this life jacket to work the next day. Just finished three 15 hour days wearing this life jacket a harness and leathers to protect the life jacket while welding. Well worth the money for safety, mobility and comfort while physicaly working
