UPDATE Something kept bugging me about the weird, rubberized-like finish of this control plate. It would never shine. Would never look clean. Felt rubberized. So I ended up ordering another one and it was flawlessly perfect. What I think happened is, the plastic it comes wrapped in; somehow “transfer” to the metal paint. I say that because when I unwrapped the new one the plastic wrap was detached. The previous one, the plastic was stuck to the metal and I had to “rip it off”. I wonder if the previous one was laying around in a very hot place for a while, resulting in the issue with the plastic wrap. Anyways, new one is gorgeous so updating my review. ————— I’m confused about this plate. The shape and fit are both great. Love the knob placement and the angular switch position. What’s weird is, it doesn’t look truly black. It looks more like a dark, dull charcoal color. And it is metal, but it doesn’t feel smooth like metal. It feels sticky like plastic. So, I’m confused if this comes from factory with a plastic protection layer. All I know is I’ve tried and tried to see if there is a plastic layer to be removed, but nothing. And the dull nature of the color is throwing me off. It never looks clean. It’s always smeared in fingerprints or something, which don’t clean up, like if there was plastic between the finger and the metal. Very strange. ... show more

The quality of this control plate is great, looks awesome and fits perfectly on my Telecaster (it’s a Squier, this part might matter for Fenders). I don’t know why Telecasters don’t normally come with a slant for the blade switch on the control plate because it’s such a little change that makes so much difference. Perfect fit. Note the angled switch slot. This helps with how close the switch is to the volume knob, however may require a little bit of enlarging the control cavity.

Tight fit on my Fender Player II Modified as I have a push/pull pot and extra wiring that made it difficult to install. Other teles with simpler wiring setups probably won't have that problem. Otherwise it works as expected!

This was a super-easy upgrade for my MIM Player Series Telecaster. My recommendation is to remove the tone and volume nuts first, then the selector switch screws, and then the plate cover screws. Why? There is a very fine jumper wire connecting the tone and volume knobs and you want to minimize movement while switching out the plate. Otherwise, it's an easy upgrade and only took a few minutes to adjust to the new selector switch angle. Definitely worth $13. ... show more

These angled plates are becoming more available from different companies. I've tried several, as I have several Teles. I'm buying these from now on, because they are just as nice as the expensive ones. I bought the first one a year or so ago, and there have been no issues with the plating. One note is the switch slot is a little more angled than others. I like this, but it's a close fit. Also, I i don't think it's mentioned, but the volume knob hole is moved back a bit. Also a plus for me, but those with Fender S-1 pot may need to remove some wood for the pot to clear. I did on my Elite Tele. ... show more
