Features

  • ROASTED VINTERA 70S MODIFIED STRATOCASTER NECK: The Fender Roasted Maple Vintera Modified 70s Stratocaster neck is a 1-piece maple neck with an early 70s C shape. Roasted maple provides more sustain and adds a unique note to the instruments voice
  • EARLY 70S C NECK PROFILE: Ideal for almost any playing style, the C shape is not as deep as most U- and V-shaped neck profiles. With a larger headstock, this neck features a 3-bolt design typical of '70s Strats and only the bottom two neck mounting pilot holes are pre-drilled, giving you the flexibility to use this neck with many different guitar bodies.
  • RADIUS AND FRETS: A 9.5"-radius maple fingerboard and 21 medium jumbo frets facilitate fluid leads and choke free bends
  • SATIN URETHANE FINISH: A silky-smooth satin urethane back finish for faster movement up and down the neck
  • SYNTHETIC BONE NUT: Made of melamine, this (1.650" width) synthetic bone nut offers great resonance and sustain and is pre-slotted to ensure proper string spacing

Description

  • Great Neck, the second time around
The fist neck I received was less than stellar when it came to the sanding on the back of the neck (original review on that below). However, I wanted to update my review as I ended up ordering another neck to give it a second shot. Needless to say Amazon was great about taking back the first neck without hassle. A couple weeks later I decided to give it another shot, as I really wanted to replace my current Fender neck with another Fender branded neck. The neck I received the second time was fantastic. The sanding on the back and everywhere else I had issues with originally proved to be perfectly done on this neck. Just like the first one the fretwork looks great (no fret sprout and they seemed to be leveled a little already, but I'm no fretwork expert when it comes to leveling and finishing). Coloring on the neck from roasting is also perfect and closely matched the fist one. Not too light and not too dark, so it doesn't look like they under or over roasted it. Gloss finish on the headstock and fingerboard are also great. I installed the neck, and even though I haven't gotten around to a doing a setup or finish off filling and finishing the nut, it actually plays pretty good with just being bolted on. Although I like my action on the higher side, so that might play into it feeling pretty close to where I want it straight out of the gate. Regardless, I'm more than pleased with how it fit straight out of the box and looking forward to getting it perfect with a setup in the next week or so. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm not sure if mine was the exception, but this neck was not of good quality when it came to the sanding of the neck. There were machine marks on the side of the headstock where it rounds off, and dips in the wood to accompany it. The back of the itself neck also had dips in the wood in numerous areas, as if it was pushed against a sanding drum too hard in certain spots. This resulted in the back of the neck not being uniformly smooth and even through out. I've never actually seen a neck with dips in the wood like this, regardless of the price point, so I was really surprised it left the factory in this condition. It was so surprising, i was suspicious that this was a real Fender neck. I wasn't sure if I was being picky or if that's the way they come, so I talked to a local Fender Authorized repair person (who was going to install the neck and has 20 years of experience in the professional repair business) and he said this was not normal to receive a neck from Fender that was so poorly done. On the bright side, the fretwork looked great right out of the box. If it wasn't for the sloppy sanding that resulted in those low spots on the back of the neck and in that one area of the headstock, I would have kept the neck. ... show more

  • Love this neck
Neck needs a little bit of feet work but plays well straight out of the box. And it’s amazingly beautiful. I bought this one open box saving over a hundred dollars. Used the nut off my original neck since it had the same radius. Worked beautifully

  • If you like big shouldered, thicker necks, buy this one.
If you like bigger necks with shoulders, this one is for you. Another reviewer said it’s more of a U shape. I replaced a Modern C shaped neck and couldn’t be happier.

  • It's roasted
Smooth, nice shape. I like the medium jumbos.

  • Covered, dripping in gloss
The fingerboard had so much gloss on it, that it began to ripple up near the frets. Sent it back immediately.
