The toaster’s toasting functionality is great. A couple things to highlight that are a bit annoying: #1: the cord is connected to the unit on the side where the lever is to lower the bread. I store my toaster in a bread cubby and it makes it so the toaster can barely slide out. It would make a lot more sense if it was in the middle of the unit or at the opposite side of the product. #2: sometimes when the toasting is done, the toaster will launch the toast onto the floor. This is very different from any other toaster we've bought in the past. It's the first toaster I've used where you insert bread end-to-end. The slots are wide enough to accept crumpets and cut bagels and other products of similar size. I do like the stylish design and easy to understand LCD display. The toaster settings seem more powerful than normal toaster settings, I have to turn down the number more to get my desired toastiness. I prefer mine nearly burnt, so a setting of 3 or 4 (out of 6) is pretty accurate. The door at the bottom is removable which is nice. No more shaking the toaster out over a trashcan. Just remove tray and take it to the trashcan instead. It has a defrost feature. I tried it with 2 frozen pieces of toast stuck together but it just toasted the outside, leaving the pieces still stuck together and frozen in the center. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong, I don't know. Anyway, defrosting... that's what microwaves are for. I also haven't used the reheat function and likely never will. OMG BAGELS!!! Why didn't I mention bagels??? I recently discovered bagels from Randall's and we have become addicted to them ever since. We have a problem, yes I know but I can't find and bagel support groups in our local area. Depending on the bagel size, this will somewhat do the job. Small bagels fit perfectly, but the larger asiago cheese bagels just won't fit. I have to toast those one-half at a time, then turn them over to toast the underside because they stick out an inch at the top. So I burn a few. Setting 4 is too high for bagels. Try 2 or 3. After this updated review I'm going to get a an asiago cheese and jalapeno bagel from the freezer and devour it with a crazy look in my eyes. You knew it, didn't you? No support group, remember? While it's all cool, sexy-looking and all that, I do have a few issues with it but only one major one: 1. It's long and skinny, nearly twice the length of a normal toaster, so finding the perfect countertop space for it could be challenging. 2. It has a very powerful spring action when the toaster pops. I've sometimes found my toast laying on the countertop or sideways across the toaster after it came out. I have even had it land both pieces in our sink on the garbage disposal... no I am not kidding. Perhaps designed by NASA to launch toast into outer space? 3. The worst feature, although not a dealbreaker is it doesn't toast evenly. Meaning it will leave about a quarter of the toast untoasted or barely toasted at the bottom, noticeable by a dividing line between the toasted part and untoasted. I don't know why this happens, but it seems designed that way to frustrate people such as myself. I'll add a picture later to illustrate my point. 4. You cannot flick up the handle a little bit after it's finished toasting to "pop out" stubborn or small toast like you can on a normal unit. It stops fully at the top. Once it's done, if it still 'aint reachable, then a game of Operation with a pokey object is in your immediate future. Other than that, it's a pretty good unit. If you want to play catch with your toast, or create uneven abstract toast-art, or even just admire your own reflection in the shiny finish, then this toaster is for you! ... show more

Attractive appliance that hugs the wall, saving space. It has one slot that can fit 2 pieces of toast so it is narrower and longer than most 2 slice toasters. The cord is near the front, but comes out the side making it ideal to place against the wall. The controls are on the side opposite the cord. I have so far only used it for normal size bread so I don’t know about results for bagels (no bagel setting) and I feel that the top of the toast is a bit lighter so that might be an issue for “taller “ slices. Has been excellent for my purposes and would definitely recommend. ... show more

I wanted a toaster that would fit those long and sometimes thick slices of toast that comes with a lot of the more expensive bread that you get today. I also wanted a quality toaster that was solid and worked well. This toaster fit most of that. I like the controls but there are 4 buttons with symbols so you have to learn and remember what they are and what they do but that isn't too much of a hurdle. It definitely fit the bill for wide and thick slices, you could almost put a half a pie in each slot in this thing! The only thing that really doesn't impress me is that it is still lightweight metal but I sort of expected that given the cost. The temperature control has presets (6 if I remember right) so hopefully one of those settings are right for you otherwise you are out of luck. It is a decent toaster for the cost and definitely works for those wide and long slices. ... show more

Mueller 4 slice toaster. I think this is one of the best toasters I have ever purchased. Perfectly cooked toast. Every time. I like a medium color, not light, not burnt. Of course the color is adjustable. Adjustable for toast, bagels and pastries. Very efficient, even when used repeatedly. Each time, perfectly done. Time will of course tell. The outer shell is stainless, toast 'pops' easily. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. All of my reviews reflect my honest, personal experience with the reviewed item - your experience may be different. I am not influenced by any outside source. I receive/accept NO free products or discounts that are not available to all shoppers- ever. For some reason our shopper ranks are no longer visible - so, to give you a little more info about me, I am a top 50 reviewer (#30 the highest rank achieved). Those numbers used to fluctuate over time - up and down but I noticed that they stopped updating regularly - perhaps to phase them out. It's a shame because it did help you see who has been around the longest and who is a trustworthy reviewer. Bought this to replace my 20 yo Cuisinart. I would have purchased another Cuisinart, but their current product won’t fit in the space I have. This Mueller came with great reviews. But yet, it’s another toaster that doesn’t toast equally - one end is burnt and the other end is nicely toasted. That is on Level 2 (of 5 where 1 should be barely toasted); should not be happening at that level. TBH I expected it. Why can’t the industry make a toaster that actually toasts correctly? I’ll keep this but not as good as I expected with the great reviews. ... show more
