Description

An ultralight, four-season solo tent, the MSR Access Lightweight 1-Person 4-Season Tent for Winter Backpacking was built to meet the needs of backcountry skiers, splitboarders and snowshoers. The lightweight tent features a swivel pole hub for faster setup, a central-support frame that withstands the weight of accumulated snow, and offers generous space inside for bulky gear with a vestibule that provides an additional 9 square feet for boots, packs, and gear storage. Limited mesh on the tent body offers greater warmth on frigid nights, and rainfly vents reduce help to condensation, while the light and packable design saves energy on the climb. The tent's Easton Syclone poles, that are made of aerospace composite materials, are made strong and flexible to resist breaking in severe conditions. Set up, the main interior floorspace measures 84x33 inches (19 sq. feet) with an interior peak height of 41 inches. The complete setup weighs 3.5 pounds and packs down to 18x6 inches, which includes tent body, rainfly, poles, stakes, guylines, tent bag, pole bag, and stake bag. The minimum weight setup is 3 pounds (body, rainfly, poles only). Manufacturer’s 3-year limited warranty.

  • Bathtub leakage along seem.
Color: Orange Size: 1-Person
I've really been looking forward to my first 4 season tent, and this Access 1 tent is my first 4-season ever. Since I test equipment before using in austere environments where my life depends on proper equipment function, I've been testing the Access 1. I used the tent in 30° weather and most recently in rain. Is it warm in cold weather? Yes. Is there some condensation? Yes, which is the tradeoff using tents that retain heat. If you use all of the guy lines when setting up your tent, I found that condensation usually occurs on the tent fly, rather than the tent body. One must be consistently committed to using the guy lines each and every time they use the tent. Otherwise, you will get condensation within the body of the tent. My gripe today comes from using my brand new tent in 40-50° moderate rain with little to no wind. Water entered the bathtub of the tent along the seams, on the vestibule side of the tent. I have many years of experience camping in all 4 seasons, so yes...I checked the footprint and other water entrances. There are no punctures and no reason that leakage should occur along the seam length of 1 side of the tent body. I am debating whether to just seem seal or return. The fact that the tent is brand new and requires seam sealing irritates me, but then, they did include seam sealer in the tent package, so I'm guessing this must be an ongoing problem. Anyway, I'm a little sad about this development. At the very least, they could include a full sized bottle of seam sealant. It should be noted that the customer's life is put in harm's way with malfunctioning equipment in austere conditions and a lackadaisical attitude towards quality from any equipment company is unacceptable. Thank you. ... show more

  • Easy to pitch, super firm
Color: Orange Size: 1-Person
Bought this for my alpine tramp in 2025 winter in NZ. Tested it last weekend and must say I am fully impressed. Tent is not definitely UL at 1.76kg but it performed remarkably well withstanding wind and wetness. Very easy to pitch by laying it down and staking the four corners. Then the frame (the heaviest component) goes over and the fly just drape naturally over the frame. Not weeping, and tent stayed dry the entire time. Solidly build. Happy with the tent, gave it 4 stars and it could easily have 5 if it were light weighted. ... show more

  • Almost ruined my trip
Color: Orange Size: 1-Person
Took this tent on a 8 day hunting trip in the Olympic mountains. Always wanted one and finally bought it for this trip. Big mistake!!! The tent doesn't allow ventilation and the rain fly leaked like crazy. I had to use a bivy cover on my sleeping bag inside the tent. Every night was like sleeping directly outdoors. Sure wish I had the $40 Walmart tent that I always used in the past. Maybe the thing will hold snow but you better pray it doesn't melt. ... show more

  • Have no idea why this is considered an ultralight
Color: Orange Size: 1-Person
Have no idea why this is considered an ultralight. It’s heavy (nearly 4 pounds) and huge when packed.
