  • Solid
I won't rehash the specs but I've been running this with a 3090 and a 12900K with zero problems, no overheating. It is a very solid board. My only complaint is that the UEFI is not easy or intuitive like Gigabyte or Asus. Lots of submenus. It's a solid, 1700 socket motherboard with an adequate amount of IO. ... show more

  • Great board easy upgrade
I had recently upgraded to a newer processor and found myself with a spare 12900K that needed a home. I also had 64 gigs of DDR from an older PC that’s no longer here. This seemed to be a great way to use what’s available for a second PC. Right now I’ve got it set to dual boot both Windows 11 Pro and Fedora Linux 41. It’s got 64 gigs of DDR and an Intel Arc 770 Pro as GPU. I have all 4 m2 slots filled with drives, and have two mechanical drives 2x4 TB. Eventually this will be a home streaming device once I’ve gotten all our movies ripped and stored onto this. Overall a great board, it’s from their pro series which says a lot in itself. MSI makes the best PC components, they always work. ... show more

  • The EZ debug Leds
On the motherboard there is an EZ debug LED telling you what is wrong which helped greatly to understand how to go about fixing my computer. The only downside was the fact that it requires an update as soon as you buy it. For those that need help with that on a separate computer go to MSI webpage and find your motherboard. Go to support after you have found your motherboard, it’s a tab you select in reference to your motherboard and put it on a thumb drive. Take the file ending in .101 or whatever number it is and move it to the flash drive, rename that file to MSI.ROM. Make sure that’s the only file on the thumb drive and put it in the motherboard where it says flash bios. Only plug the motherboard to the power supply with nothing else attached and turn on your power supply, hit the button called flash bios button right above the thumb drive and it should blink red for about 5 minutes. After it has stopped you are good to go. Enjoy ... show more

  • Great Board Exept....
To start off the reason for the loss of one 1 star is because when I put everything together and went to use the Q Flash button on the back the button itself pushed into the I/o itself and unable to get it out making the button useless .Besides that the board itself is a great motherboard I jave always used MSI motherboards because they are reliable and the bios is user-friendly. I do miss the crisp red and black my last Board had which was a MSI z370 gaming m5 motherboard where the bios on the z690 is dull and grey but is still user-friendly. What I do like about the z690 Pro is not only does it have 1 XMP Profile button it has 2 as well as a CPU button profile I also like that they separated some of the Sata Ports tbey have 2 on the bottom and the rest on the side and its perfect because my 4000D Airflow case has 2 holes at the bottom for cable management right where the 2 bottom Sata ports are. All and all its a great Motherboard and definitely would recommend its only been a few days and haven't tried overclocking my i7 12700k yet so id anything happens I will update the review. ... show more

  • The perfect blend of cutting edge and legacy technology
I chose this motherboard for two reasons: (1) PS/2 connector. Great for waking PC with keyboard, thank you MSI for including it! (2) Six SATA connectors. Yes, some of us still use sata drives and docking bays and six is just enough. But then I also appreciate the user-friendly bios, the little quick release M.2 gadgets, four M.2 slots!!, four USB 2.0 ports in the back (thank you MSI !!), the ARGB connectors and just the overall nice layout and features. It is the perfect blend of cutting-edge technology (PCI-E 5.0, Gen4 x4 M.2, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, ARGB) and legacy technology (PS/2, USB 2.0, SATA, DDR4) and seems to use the best of all of them. This is the board for us "experienced" guys who are still clinging on to tried and trusted technologies, but at the same time also want to try out the latest and greatest innovations. Well done MSI, mission accomplished and at such a reasonable price, Wow! ... show more

  • Intel I225V Ethernet LAN Hardwire Compatibility Issue
I purchased two of these motherboards for two new builds I am doing to upgrade the home servers for my home in town and for our lake home. I have only completed the first build because I got derailed with this motherboard. The hardware build took only about two hours (new chassis, power supply, DDR4 memory, flash drives, uP, etc.). Then I ran into problems. For the OS install, I used a new copy of Windows 11 Pro which I downloaded from a CD. The install went flawlessly until it got to the part where Microsoft requires that you have an internet connection to complete the install of the OS. At this point the motherboard could not find the hardwired LAN ethernet cable that was plugged into the motherboard. The connection was fine (you could see the status lights flashing), it just could not see it. Now, we have a problem. We have a new system with a partially loaded OS and what appears to be obvious driver problems. I can't bring up the OS to install the drivers supplied on the CD that came with the unit and I can't complete the Windows install. 12 hours later, I am at a point where I have managed to bypass the Windows 11 internet requirement and complete the installation but still have no ethernet connection. I have downloaded and updated the BIOS on the motherboard, which was far out of date, updated the Intel I225V drivers from their site, reinstalled the chipset drivers and adjusted various settings in the BIOS. Nada. Today, I am going to go to town an buy an Ethernet card and plug it into this thing to see if I can connect to the internet that way. I suspect that will work. I will then do a Windows 11 software update and see if the updates will fix any configuration issues. If not, then I am going to stick a fork into this baby and call it done and return it to Amazon. However, because I am a glutton for punishment, I am going to try the second board I bought to see if it has the same problem. If it does I will report it here. In closing, unless you really like the idea of drilling deeply into the bowels of the Windows 11 operating system and all of the nuances of a 1700-based bios and hardware, I think I would pass on this board and try a different brand. I would also be pretty leary of anything using this Intel Ethernet adaptor if you need a hardwired connection. ... show more
