This machine is the one I am writing the review with. An excellent upgrade to my PC, and it's fast and steady. M.2 socket is a must these days. This board has two! Didn't want or need the wifi, but it ended up being helpful anyway. I am not using the built-in GPU, but they didn't have one without it. It boots up well, performs well, and I have had great game experiences with it do to the speed. Of course this last has to do with the AMD CPU I put into it more than the board, but still. :-) Great board for the price, and no regrets! :-)

Purchased this board for $209 after much research on the subject. It checked most of my boxes at the right price. It supports USB 4, has a strong wifi / bluetooth antenna, will support up to 96GB of DDR5 Ram at a low overclock in the 4 x 24GB configuration (it will support more ram but not overclocked), is designed for AI use, had all of the ports I was looking for, and has a PCIE x16lane that will support Gen 4 X4 which is good enough for a second non gaming graphics card or other device. The AI designation is no joke as the BIOS has a separate category for overclocking the NPU (neural processing unit) which is an innovation that may or may not take off in desktop computers. The BIOS is fairly easy to navigate. MSI bundles software that allows you to control the RGB, fan speed, and update the BIOS through a windows app. The board seems fairly futureproof as it supports AM5 and PCIE 5 for both the main graphics card and primary NVME port. The other NVME ports are easy to access as well. As of January 2025 there is no support for wi-fi on windows 10--only windows 11. The board is well supported on Linux but you must upgrade to the newest kernel. The 5Gbps Lan port was not natively supported in the Ubuntu 24.04 kernel installed in January 25 which made Linux installation a pain. Once the kernel was updated, wi-fi and the ethernet port work great. I am currently running and highly recommend the AMD Series 7 7700 8 core processor. It costs $100 more than the 7 5600 series but the included OEM upgraded RGB cooler plus 2 additional cores is more than worth the price. I currently have 2x24 GB G.Skill Flare X5 modules in ram running at a modest 5200mhz. The price was also modest. My main complaint with this board is that the PCIE 16 Gen 4X4 slot is located on the end of the board. It is impossible to use this slot without a riser cable if you want a working front audio jack. The optional extra PCIE power connector (which is a great feature like the two PCIE power connectors for the processor) is also right in the way of any expansion card. To me this is a serious design flaw and its hard to believe someone signed off on this design when there are two perfectly good PCIE x16 3X1 slots that could have been swapped. (the less expensive lower chipset card without the USB 4 has this designed properly. Go figure). So far the board has been working great and produced above average passmark scores. The number and layout of the fan headers is also a plus. At $209 this card is hard to beat. At $239+ I was considering just spending the money on a tai chi lite to get true dual graphics card support. Tip: the board serial number used for warranty registration is located on the side of the ATX power connector. Write it down before installation.

MSI's PRO series has consistently performed well, offering excellent value at an affordable price. I previously bought the PRO Z690-A, which was one of the best motherboards supporting DDR5 at its price point at the time. So this time, I chose the same series to build a work PC for my wife, who is a fashion designer. She really loves the simple look of the silver heatsink. and the boot speed and memory compatibility are a huge improvement over the B650 motherboard from another brand that I had. The USB port speed is also excellent, and they haven't cut costs in those subtle areas, which is very important for a work computer. Overall, it was a pleasant purchasing experience.

Bought this during pre-Christmas sales, but ended up waiting a month or so, before I could complete the build of my replacement system for an am4 system that succumbed to a mobo failure just after Thanksgiving. Got the system all together and apparently running well, but couldn't get it to recognize wi-fi. At the moment, I don't have any direct ethernet option for networking. After a Google search revealed dozens of forum threads documenting the same problem, I called MSI tech support. Their claim is that it's a problem with Qualcomm, maker of the on-board wi-fi adapter, and according to MSI, there is no support for on-board wi-fi under windows 10, even though the MSI support page claims support for windows 10 and has a driver and software download page for windows 10. Completely disassembling my new system to return this piece of doodoo seems impractical. So, it's looking like a possible forced "upgrade" to the OS. First and last MSI purchase for me.

I’ve recently helped my friend build a new PC, and before giving it to him, I figured I could test-pilot it for a couple of days to make sure everything runs as intended. The X870P motherboard has been great in terms of performance and versatility. I used a Ryzen 9700X for the build, and there were SDRAM slots to bump the memory up. Connectivity wise, the board provides a lot of IOs, so unless you have like 10 USB devices at once, you’ll most definitely be fine. The build has been running smoothly so far, we downloaded and played Wukon on it briefly and it’s been lovely! And imo, not really a fan of the antenna’s appearance, but it does the job.
