  • Z77's Last Hurrah
Style: GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G
I purchased this graphics card as the last update for my z77 gaming computer. This MSI GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G is replacing a PNY 660ti 2gb that was beginning to bog down in some of my favorite games at med-high settings, and couldn't dish out what my 1080p 144hz 1ms monitor and its side kick a 1280 x 1024 @ 75hz needed. This graphics card now eats everything I throw at it. Max settings on every game I play like Overwatch, GTAV, Fallout 4, BF4, Witcher 3, just to name a few. I haven't seen it dip below 110fps for anything more than a second on the factory OC mode. However I have come to the realization that this will likely be the last upgrade to my aging z77 computer. My computers specs are: 3570k @ 4.2ghz on a Z77 Sabertooth w/ 32gb 1866mhz. I now see my cpu sometimes spiking to 94% load at the same time where the GPU will be around 84%. They pair up extremely well, but it is close to bottlenecking. In fact, I can totally believe that I will be maxing both in future games (on high-ultra) about a year down the line. The 1080 is overkill for 1080p/144hz/1ms, and is overkill for an oc'd 3570k (likely even the 3770k). In my opinion The GTX 1070 is the sweet spot for the LGA 1155 chipset. I want to mention that I received my 1070 with Samsung memory. Pros: -Exceeds my expectations in terms of overall performance. (night and day difference from the 660ti) -Performance to $ ratio. -Internal components are some of the best on the market. -Extremely quiet. -No regrets getting the 1070 vs the 1080. Cons: -Very Heavy compared to the 660ti -Had a problem where the Drivers via the included CD were not detected by my computer therefor the 1070 wasn't detected. Gave me a pretty big scare for about 10 minutes before I went to Nvidia's website to download and install their drivers and then everything was detected. Phew! -Would not fit in a CM Storm Scout 1. Had to custom cut notches in the scout with a dremel to fit this behemoth of a card. ***Update #1 2/4/17 (7 months of ownership)*** I recently upgraded my main monitor to 1440p, and tweaked my CPU overclock to the max on air @ 4.6ghz. The monitor is a Dell Gaming S2417DG - 23.8" 1440p 165hz 1ms w/ G-Sync. This GPU powers it beautifully with fps averaging ~ 90 on titles such as Witcher 3, and avg over 130 playing Overwatch with most settings on both games at high w/ some ultra mixed in (AA low, as 123.4 ppi is magic) . All while also powering a second 1080p 144hz used for light duty tasks and surfing in the background. I would also like to note that with my CPU's higher overclock, the GPU is now even better paired, now they are made for each other, with both coming in comfortably under 90% usage under load. I have yet to unleash the 1070's full potential with MSI Afterburner, deciding to keep it at its factory OC setting...For now.... ... show more

Style: GTX 1070 QUICK SILVER 8G OC
Awesome card. I bought two both will hold a constant 1938 on the core using OC profile in the gaming app. I was able to hit in the 2100's with no problem. The color way is a welcomed change from the played out red and black. Don't hesitate on the cards it is basically the offspring of the gaming x and gaming z variants. Oh yea RGB everyone loves that and this card has it. ... show more

  • Love the card itself
Style: GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G
Love the card itself. No issues ultra quiet controlling the LED's on it is nice and even better that it has the option to change color to a specific color when temps get too high. Took 1 star away because Amazon is not taking part in the Nvidia promo currently running where you get a free copy of For Honor or Ghost Recon Wild Lands. Amazon.CA is but not Amazon.com..... No clue why... I wish I had known as I didn't save any by purchasing from Amazon at the time compared to other online e-tailers that are taking part in the promotion. I plan on contacting Amazon customer service to see if they know a specific reason why or will offer any compensation for one side of Amazon honoring the promo but not the other. ... show more

  • Outstanding GPU
Style: GTX 1070 GAMING 8G
Beautiful graphics card! I upgraded from my AMD R9 380X, and here are the improvements I got (running with an i5 [email protected]) : - Witcher 3 consistently runs between 60-90fps - Overwatch and Rocket League both run at my monitor max of 144fps - The card consistently runs at around 65-75 degrees Celsius, compared to 80-95 with my previous card - Noise is pretty much nonexistent, even when running at full fan speed - The card itself looks beautiful with the few LEDs that is possesses. HOWEVER, BEWARE!! Check your case dimensions first! The MSI Gaming version of the 1070 will be taller than other manufacturer versions. This card will not fit into small cases such as a Corsair Carbide 240. First off, the card will be incredibly hard to insert because it runs against the side of the case, and the side panel will not fit on after attaching the power cables to the GPU. Get a different version, such as the EVGA or the Founder's Edition instead. 5/5 - this card is remarkable ... show more

  • Amazing Graphics Card
Style: GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G
The MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 graphics card is honestly one of the best out there. I just bought it and it can run all of the new games at 60fps or higher on the best settings. This is easily capable of playing games above 1080p. This card also looks amazing with the black and red and can really make your gaming rig look a lot cooler. The card runs with very cool temps and you don't have to worry about that. If you really want to do some gaming and graphic editing I really recommend you get this graphics card. I love this graphics card and I am very glad that I upgraded to it. ... show more
