  • NOT for novice/beginner pc builders! Build quality is great, but setup is a PAIN!
Style: B350M GAMING PRO Size: mATX
This board looks great with the red led lights & theme, but setting it up is a hassle just to let y’all know! So I made a step by step guide on how to get it running on your new build minus the frustration. This board has NO onboard vga/gpu, so be sure to have a dedicated gpu installed on the pcie slot before you start with the bios setup. The native display ports on the board are for the ryzen APU series only! I have a Ryzen 1500x installed & the default/old bios has major compatability issues with it. Step 1. Be sure to have a USB flash drive ready for flashing an updated bios. The default bios is outdated, mine was dated Dec. 2017. Go to MSI support website & download the latest bios file (size is just 10mb). Unzip the file on the flash drive using another computer. Step 2. Once you finished setting up the hardware on the cpu, don’t switch it on & jump into the bios just yet. Make sure you CLEAR the CMOS first! Refer to the board manual on how to do this by shorting the JBAT1 on the board. If you bypassed this step, you’ll end up having a failed CPU debug reading & have a blank display! Thus, you need to clear the cmos again. Step 3. Now this is the most crucial step, flashing the bios. Plug the the USB drive with the bios file. Proceed to powering on the system & press DEL to immediately to go to the EUFI bios screen. Select the M-FLASH feature on the lower left of the screen and continue. It will restart to a flash bios screen & make sure to load the right file on the directory. Wait for the process to finish UNINTERRUPTED (about 5 mins). Step 4. The system will restart again & will boot up to the new bios. Verify the bios version & date on the right upper screen of the setup. You should be ready to install your O.S at this point. I hope that this helps & please refer to the board manual to be safe. Good luck! =) ... show more

  • Very nice build
Style: B350M MORTAR Size: mATX
There has been talk of memory problems with Ryzen, but with this motherboard and the G.Skill FlareX memory, I had no problem moving the clock speed for the memory to 3200 and the voltage to 1.35, which the memory and motherboard were rated for. I added a MSI 1060 6gb graphics card and the system is rock solid. I haven't actually tried to overclock the CPU yet, but I have seen it go slightly over 4GHz, which is it's max burst speed for the Ryzen 5 1600x. The games I have are smooth with everything cranked up at 1080p. I have no intention of adding another graphics card so the 500 watt EVGA power supply will be plenty. I used a Cosair case that was inexpensive, but solid and works nice. I added another fan to the front and blocked off the spots on top for another fan. The CPU does not come with a cooler and a DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler was added to the mix. I did not use the heat sink compound supplied, but some ArticCool I had. It is very quiet and runs cool too. I noticed someone else had problems and I wanted to add that I updated to BIOS to the latest version that supports the Ryzen 5. Like I said, no problems and it's rock solid. The memory was a bit pricey, but I figured if it was made specifically to support the AMD motherboards with the X370 and B350 it would minimize the chances of problems and it looks like it did. I am quite happy. :) One other thing, they mention in the manual and have an additional insert in the box that both state the memory should go in the second and fourth slots counting from the CPU out. The memory part number is F4-3200C14D-16GFX. I am seeing the CPU cores clocking as fast as 4.1 GHz which is fine for me, I plan on burning it all in for a few days and watch the temperatures, I didn't like the feel of the way the fan mounted, it required attaching one side and rocking the fan over the cpu and I am worried about what that did to the thermal paste. So far the highest temperature seen was 72 degrees C. I plan on using this for gaming and 3D modeling, so the extra cores will come in handy when I need it as a workhorse. I read the manual that came with the motherboard looking for references to memory voltage and the only thing I found was "Based on the processor specification, the memory DIMM voltage below 1.35 is suggested to protect the processor." base on that I reduced the memory voltage in the BIOS to 1.34 volts and it is still solid. ... show more

  • OLD BIOS
Style: A320M PRO-M2 V2 Size: mATX
If you're using a 2nd Gen Ryzen CPU don't waste your time or money. I've been building PCs for years and I've never ran into such an inconvenient bios issue. Literally everywhere on the packaging and in their advertising MSI insinuates that this board is ready to run a Ryzen CPU but what they neglect to mention is that the BIOS isn't updated out of the box and you would need another processor to update the mobo just to run the 2nd gen cpu. So now the only options I have are return the board, contact amd for a "boot kit" or bite the bullet and buy another cpu just to update this board. I work two jobs 70+ hours a week and have no time for this cat and mouse game. It was honestly hard enough to get ahold of the package. I'm honestly embarrassed I wasted my money on their bs. Save yourself the hassle and buy something more expensive preferably not MSI because this is a joke. I've NEVER had any compatibility issues with AMD chipsets but I'm so greatly disappointed in the way both companies handled the introduction of this architecture that I'm certainly going to spend more money next time and avoid both of these companies like the plague. ... show more
