The material is soft and it is WARM. I used the liner for a week or so of temps in the teens, but have since taken it out and the coat is plenty warm for ~30º mornings. It's also a great looking coat. It's not perfect. There are some cons. Two of the three chest pockets are fake. One is a zipper that goes nowhere and the other is just a side-facing flap, albeit with a little dangly loop that could be used for keys or lift passes or the like (but there's no pocket behind that flap to stash it in). Not a big deal but I'm a bit of a pocket addict so it was disappointing. Now I have fewer places to stick items and forget about them for years. The liner also stank when I received the coat. I'm not sure what the smell was but 10 minutes or so in the dryer aired it out nicely. Oh yeah, and the zipper is backwards, like women's zippers, but it's a nice metal zipper that I think will last at least long-enough for me to figure out how to use it without cursing. None of these things really detract from the overall greatness of the coat, though. It's just something to be prepared for. The company is also superb. The sizing, at least at the time I purchased it, was WAY off. I took my measurements and matched it up to the provided chart. I came in just at the top end of one of the sizes so I ordered the next size up to be safe. A representative from the company sent me an email asking me for my measurements and they wound up recommending the size above the size I'd chosen. I accepted their recommendation and am happy I did. It would have been a very snug fit otherwise. So when you order it, watch for that email and send them your numbers. Buy the coat. You won't regret it. ... show more

Other than the general appearance of the coat, this coat does not perform as advertised. It is not warm on its own or even with one of those heated jackets underneath it. I live in St Louis....we like most of the country have been really blasted this year. Snow, sub-zero temps, etc. Arrived yesterday. Temps in the 20's, wore it out to walk my dog...we came right back in so I could add another layer. Still did not keep me warm. My current coat keeps me much warmer, but doesn't have the number of pockets this one does. I'm gonna keep it...probably be ok for early spring and fall, THIS IS NOT A WINTER COAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... show more

Perfect everything. I'm from Kansas. Winter can get into then negative F temps. I'm 5'7 135 pounds. I wanted a roomy coat to wrap up in, and sleeves long enough to pull down over my hands.. Got that. Color is perfect....and it feels like a light canvas, but not sure it is. I quit carrying a purse in 2016 and reduced down to what I could carry in my cell phone wallet case...hey guys do it! But you know I still field things from my hubs and kids...rock and lizard and flowers, lottery tickets, you know. In the winter I'm set. (In the summer I delegate.) Not sharing a picture. This is a great jacket. I dont write reviews but this coat/jacket is good. The sizeing is limited but go with exa tly what you wear or go 1 size bigger. Mine fits perfect!!
