When my iPod died on me recently, I set out to find an alternative, since Apple discontinued the product. The recommended replacements were priced from $350 - $400. That was out of my price range. I was looking to spend in the $150 range. The features I looked for especially were Bluetooth compatibility and sound quality. To my chagrin, those mid-range options were spotty with Bluetooth, or had complaints about the sound. The best rated MP3 player for Bluetooth was this one, the S7. I have not heard of this company before, or how long they have been around. But the positive reviews I read along with the description of the features convinced me it was worth a look. My guess is that this same unit has been around long enough for improvements to have been made over time. Some of these features are not even available on more expensive MP3 players. A FM radio. I tuned in to several different radio stations around town and they all came in very clean. Recording capability. You can record using a built-in microphone, or use a powered microphone, or record the radio station, or a stereo line (of an external source, I tried the headphone output of my computer). You can record in high quality audio file format. I was also impressed that it has these other standard features found in more expensive MP3 players, but for less than $50. PROS Decent headphone sound. Not award winning, but certainly loud enough for my needs. Customizable equalizer. Some other brands only have factory presets. The S7 has a graphic EQ with independent controls. Working Bluetooth. At least for my JBL flip 6 speaker, it connected with no hassles. It didn't connect to my car's bluetooth, but couldn't connect to my old iPod after awhile either. I don't wear Bluetooth headphones, so no notes there. Large capacity. The S7 comes with 64gb capacity. You can fill it with hours and hours of audio and be hard pressed to fill it up. Even so, the description says you can add up to 512 gb, which will last you forever. Battery life. Seemed pretty good. Easy charge via USB-C. Display. Decent sized touchscreen for the price. Responds ok when hitting the buttons. Built-In Speaker. Works well enough you can understand diction. PC File formatting. When you plug the S7 into a computer, it appears as a flash drive. You can create playlists as folders. Easy to organize. Comes with USB-C cable, headphones & protective cover. CONS Does not appear in iTunes. I have a Mac and it isn't compatible to the music app. However it shows up just fine as an external drive. My car recognizes it as a flash drive as well. Record level is very quiet. I'm not sure if it is an impedance issue, or the levels are always set for line level. When using a microphone, the level was whisper quiet. The 3 ring style of headphones with a built-in microphone does not work. Music playback interface is too basic. You need to create playlists on the S7 by hand, very cumbersome. I go to the folder directory, but the interface is very basic. No podcasts. At least not via any app. The audio playback will not remember where I left off if I stop playback and want to return to it later. No Wi-Fi. No App support. Bluetooth takes time to connect. It will not try to reconnect to the most recent device when turning the S7 back on. SUMMARY I gave the S7 a tryout to see how much it fulfilled my needs. I normally listen in my car, while riding my bike, or doing yardwork. I also normally listen to podcasts while doing housework. Trying to playback a podcast using the S7 was cumbersome. I also missed the compatibility with iTunes. I ended up returning it and using an old used iPhone as an iPod. But for the price, you get a lot of bang for your buck.

I saw another product being sold as a custom music playing photo magnet. Users were saying that it was nice but can only play the one song that that you need to send the vendor a Spotify link along with an image to be printed onto the face of the device. That is the customization part. Cool, but only 1 song and can't be changed after it has been made and delivered. So I came across this player. It's small but has loads of features. It comes with 16GB of internal memory and is expandable with a transflash card (up to 256GB). I thought, I'm a little creative, why can't I use this for a similar purpose? So I made a prototype. I made a holiday card ( to give out to family during our holiday gathering ) as a nice keepsake that can also be used throughout the year. This device has a 1.25x2" touch screen. Has loads of utilities- built-in speaker, voice recorder, media player, FM radio and Bluetooth. Bluetooth can only be paired (out) to devices like external speakers, headphones only. I wasn't able to pair it to a smartphone as a handsfree device. Included wired headphones are ok. Device was competitively priced when I purchased it. So making my own custom magnet keepsake comes out to about the same as the other device on the market. But I think the recipient of mine will get more usage out of it. I will probably think of a way to hang it like a Christmas tree ornament too. In any case, I plan on keeping this prototype for myself. But feel free to borrow my idea.

So at first I rated this MP3 player poorly based on what seemed like very little room for music which is entirely what I bought it for. Once I went into the MP3 player from my computer to see what all was on it, there were pictures, audio books, and other stuff taking up a TON of room. Once I deleted all that stuff (it was all stuff that was already downloaded onto the device prior to me receiving it), I had SO much more room for music! I don't know why it arrives with junk on it taking up a lot of the room. Anyways if it seems like there's not a lot of space, open it up on your computer and delete the stuff you don't need on it. The price was great. Sound is great. Battery is not amazing but good enough.

OK little MP3 player, but it will randomly glitch out and make a weird sound and you have to skip the song to make it stop. Pretty annoying. Bought this for a teen, and he doesn't mind too much, but definitely keep it in mind. It's small and fits easily into your pocket.

interesting device. it sounds nice but its a pain to use. seems to have a mind of its own. i spent 10 hours getting to know it, and what i did was put my music on a big 256 gb TF card, and go from there. My albums are all in folders so i'd expect if i play an album it'll come out intact and in order. But no...the thing decides at random to stick a song from somewhere else into the playlist and demolish the mood i'm trying to create. Charging its battery is another issue- sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. nothing like running out of battery while in the middle of a symphony while the charger is plugged in.. ill keep it, its cheap, but i hope the one Amazon just delivered isn't as flakey as this one.

I bought this for my 88 year old father. I used to buy him the SanDisk mp3 player, but they are no longer sold. I really liked this player. It offers more than my Dad will use (listening to music). Easy transfer of music and easy bluetooth setup. This mp3 player is worth the cost and I would absolutely order it again.

I bought these for the grandkids, and at the most awesome price I found, THIS is sooo worth the money spent! These kids (10 y/o twins) were on them for an entire week straight! They hold a good charge, I haven't maxed out on music yet, so they must hold quite a bit of music. They are small, lightweight, but built sturdy, they have a touch-screen that the kids love, they hold e-books, pictures, and videos as well as music, and they have a radio transmitter AND bluetooth. To add anything, you simply drag and drop on a PC. I haven't figured out what the recorder is for yet, the twins are on them all the time, so I rarely have possession of them to play and find out what it is... but it's probably a voice recorder. I love the price, and I love the functionality of this little MP3 player. The quality is awesome, and when you don't want to buy a child a cell phone but they LOVE music as much as they love breathing, this is the perfect gadget! Or, if you just need something to jog with, it's small enough to carry anywhere (not waterproof, though).
