I never tried my pedal set without this performance part. I can tell you you do have to have the chair locked in to get on the pedal it makes the resistance so stiff. This is way stiffer than your average vehicle that you drive on a daily basis. But after using it for a while you do appreciate the effort you have to put in to breaking. Kind of expensive for what it is I think it should come standard with the wheel and pedal sets. I mean they do make this part in a sense saying hey you're going to need this to make it better so they should just include it in the box. Nice addition because there is NO brake resistance on the stock pedals, but I found this spring WAY too stiff. Instead I swapped the spring for the green one in the "ODO LUCK 2PCS Reduce Resistance Spring Mod Kits" kit, and now it's awesome!
