I tried two packages of the food so far just to test out the quality (beef stroganoff, and chicken with rice). I've had some stored for 2 years now. I was very impressed with the flavor and quality of the food. It tastes very fresh and close to a home-cooked quality and probably better than what most restaurants would serve you. The portion sizes are very generous. Enough for two people if needed. With a shelf life of 30 years, you can't go wrong having a few of these buckets on hand for an emergency situation. The packaging is high quality and seems very durable. Prep is very easy. Boiling water in the bag, mix it well, seal it up, leave for 10 minutes, and it's done. I have no complaints with this product. WILL UPDATE in 2051 if I still have one left, to confirm how well the flavor held up! ... show more

Where to start...The chicken fried rice is amazing, the granola w/ milk is great as well for the morning, the beef stronganov w/ noodles is great for lunch and dinner and the beef stew is also amazing for brunch but the flavor can be a bit over powering. The spaghetti with meat sauce tasted a bit bland so had to add a bit of parmesan cheese and tobasco for flavoring. The bucket itself is very useful in storing these pouches and other future pouches bought. Will recommend again but not so much the spaghetti. ... show more

We spent 4 days Scamping on Porta Aransas Beach and didn't have to do any cooking except to heat water. We love these meals. They taste like homemade and are not oversalted like one of the other brands. Do yourself a favor and buy these for camping, day trips, hiking or prepping. The price is right and if you buy this on sale, each serving will be even less. Just do it!!! Mountain House meals was recommended by a friend. We are so blessed. ... show more

First point: These meals have gotten ridiculously expensive. $11 for a freeze dried meal…. Second, they say there are two servings per package but that doesn’t work for me. I often backpack alone and cannot store the “leftover” portion. In fairness, everything has gotten expensive… I have always bought Mountain House as I like their meals. They taste very good. I have not busted open this container yet as I’m finishing up my previous Mountain House container. I am confident that the quality and taste of the food will be very good. If there was something they could do to bring down the prices though…. ... show more

I bought these to take on a weekend kayaking trip. I wanted to limit the amount of stuff I brought to take up less space and these were perfect. They tasted great and were super easy to reconstitute. For some of them, I did have to add more water and let it sit longer than was recommended because it was still a little crunchy but that's not a big deal at all. Arrived as shown, sealed in a handy pail for car camping. The individually packaged meals contained are quick, easy to prepare by adding hot water right into the pouch, stir, let set, stir and eat. These all taste better than I expected; they’re actually tasty! Plus you can identify all of the ingredients too! Today I had the blueberry & oats for breakfast and the beef stroganoff for dinner. In the time it took the neighbor couple to pitch their tent both of them “working together,” I could have set up my whole camp by myself and had five meals including set up, eating and clean up. (Outdoors entertainment 😆) Anyways, toss the package in trash when you’re done, rinse the utensil and get to the trails or kick it! These meals could come in handy during emergencies or power outages if you have a propane stove or grill to heat water. Or hey, just have some meals on hand for when on the run?!
