    • Works Well for Light Monitors
I ended up buying one of these for my home desk because it was too shallow to accomodate both my keyboard and my 24 inch monitor which has an oversized base. The monitor also sits just a little bit too low for my liking on its own, and I wanted to be able to adjust the height since I often spend extended periods of time editing video or playing computer games. The desk mount is fairly heavy once removed from the packaging which gives it a sense of sturdiness. All of the main components are made of aluminum with brass joint fittings that include allen bolts which can be tightened with an included tool if the swinging action feels loose. The only real assembly required is the mounting of the monitor bracket which then fastens to the swing arm with thumb screws. The instructions were obviously translated from a foreign language, and they can be fun to follow if you don't just stick to looking at the pictures. Still, they get the job done. It is important to note that the clam that fastens the mount to your work surface does leave a large gap (about 1 inch) even when it is completely tightened, so it may not be ideal for thinner desks or tables. I personally had to place a couple of wooden shims between the bottom of the desk and the clamp to get it snug. The tightening arm is also somewhat small, but there is a hexagonal bolt head that can be tightened with a wrench if the handle hurts your palm. The only issue I have with this unit is with the height adjustment clamp which is made of a cheap looking plastic ring and a bolt with a plastic head. The clamp needs to be tightened firmly to prevent the post from slipping over time, and I just don't trust the plastic ring or the bolt not to strip under pressure. Still, occasional tightening seems to keep the arm raised. Overall, this is a very good mount for under $50, and I would say it has met all of my expectations so far. It works great for monitors that fall under the weight recommendation, and assembly took less than 15 minutes. Another reason I chose this particular mount is that my desk sits against a wall, and the arm doesn't extend past the edge of the work surface when retracted. Other models in this price range couldn't manage that. I would definitely recommend this product for anyone looking for a low cost, space saver like this one. It only loses a star for the mounting clamp and height adjustment issues I noted earlier. ... show more

We recently upgraded one of our monitors to an LG 29UM57-P 29IN Ultrawide IPS LED Monitor 2560X1080 Glossy Black monitor and decided that rather than having the monitor take up real estate on the desk, that we'd give this mount a shot. Quality seems to be very good. Not a flimsy piece (which is great considering it's tasked with holding a $400 monitor) and the installation is rather quite simple and straightforward. Took maybe 5-10 minutes to go from unboxing to having the monitor installed with the bracket to having it all up and put together. However, and this is a big one - if you do NOT have a desk (or whatever you plan on mounting this on) that is thick, you are going to A) run into issues and/or B) fashion a fix for this problem. With the mount screw screwed as far as it can go, you will be left with a rather large opening.....so if your desk's top isn't thick, you will have to fashion some sort of fix for it. (I apologize I don't have the exact measurements here, but I'm not about to take everything apart again to try and get the measurements.) We opted to take some cedar we had laying around, cut it into squares (that matched the dimensions we needed for our desk) and used wood glue to glue all the pieces together. Now in a rectangular shape about an inch thick, we took the cedar piece we just constructed and place it where the clamp is closing the gap so that we could actually mount this mount to our desk. The only other design issue we would say this mount had is the actual screw on the mount....it has a very short "pin" that you use to leverage and turn the screw to tighten the clamp to your desk. Only with it being so short it can be rather difficult to get the proper leverage (as you want this thing clamped TIGHTLY to your desk). We don't have the need to constantly lower/raise the mount so I cannot comment on how easy/hard that is during use. Although I did just try it and it wasn't too bad (it really depends on how large your monitor is & its weight). Moving the monitor (using the swivel mount aka side to side) is effortless. Overall, solid B+ product. If the mount had a longer screw on it so that people didn't have to fashion their own workarounds, it'd be a 5 star product. ... show more
