This item was extremely easy to put together and all of the mechanical parts of it have functioned perfectly so as a customer that has put maybe 300 pounds through it within the past four or five weeks and it has not malfunctioned a single time. I would say this is a great purchase for the price!

We went on a trip and needed a trustworthy way to feed our dog. I had purchased an automatic dog feeder in the past but found that if the dog knocked into it or a cat decided to jump on it, the weight would reset and the feeder would no longer go off. We invested in this product and are so happy we did. I ended up buying puppy chow because the bits were smaller than the dog food our pupper normally ate. It worked wonderfully. We did fashion a “surround” for it using zip ties and screen so the food wouldn’t go flying far (that would just be mean!). I’m sure our dog would’ve been up to the challenge of finding all the pieces, but we had it fall just below the unit in a relatively nice pile. The unit was very easy to assemble, had no missing parts, and it looks good even right next to the house. The feeder is a great size and you can adjust the height of the legs as desired. It is very windy where we live and the unit didn’t tip over. It operates off of AA batteries and is extremely easy to program. There is also a “key” or “legend”, if you will, on the lid to the battery/setting compartment so you do not have to hold onto any instructions or look up how much food is dispensed in “X” number of seconds. I highly recommend either for use as a deer feeder or dog food feeder. :)

I bought the basic version a few months ago. It was easy to set up and has held up well in wind and rainstorms. I've replaced the AA batteries twice. It seemed sometimes to not activate on the schedule but new batteries seem to solve that issue. Deer feed on a schedule related to sunrise/sunset but this timer is static...so you may want to adjust several times a year. I find it easiest to wait until the feeder is almost empty to lower it on its side and adjust the timings. Unfortunately, if you try to remove the timer/spreader in the vertical position, corn will pour out...it's a gravity feed. If you struggle lift 40 lb. bags of deer corn to fill the hopper, you can use a bucket to easily lift up managable amounts. I added the varmint guard II and the "feet" extensions and don't regret that! Living next to a golf course, deer are always present. I would rather watch them eat the corn rather than eating my hydrangeas. If you can't beat 'em...

This thing is great. Advice from friends and family was buy a feeder with a metal spinner (plastic ones break quickly). This was a great deal on one with a metal spinner. Install took about 20 min (I work with tools daily). The hardest part is putting together the barrel- just put all the bolts in loosely- then tighten them down at the end. The feet are no issue and the controller is great. It will hold like 5 50lb bags of corn. I usually put 2-3 in at a time. No issues- works great. Super easy and super impressed. My only complaint- if I am being picky- is that it doesn’t throw the corn very far. But if it did- you would have such a scarce amount in one place- you would have to allow it to feed for quite some time. It would be cool if there were an adjustment on the controller to allow for longer throws and then you could adjust for a longer feed time (which it does) to compensate. I understand that would take more pieces in the spinner and a more advanced controller resulting in a slightly higher price tag. But for my first feeder, for the price, this thing blows me away.

Bought 3 of these to feed my ducks and geese while we were on vacation. I set timers to spray feed for 20 seconds at 7am and at 5pm. They loose time and setting. 2 go off at the wrong time. And one just doesn’t even go off. I try replacing batteries and resetting time and I’m just over it. Will be replacing them with something more reliable.
