  • New O-Ring not included.
Fits my vehicle as described, and keeps my temps in the sweet spot of operating temperature. However, it did not come with a new seal. I ended up trying to reuse my old one with a large amount of grease to help it re-seat. It's leaking coolant fast enough to where I needed 1/2 a jug at the end of the week. Even if the product description says "Not Included" a thermostat and its seal are exposed to high temperatures. This means the seal is almost never reusable, especially if you switch brands of thermostats. This is due to the tolerances of your vehicle being large enough to allow manufacturers to all produce a product "to spec", but be slightly different in exact dimensions between each company. So with that said, I expect companies who take pride in their product to understand their product's application and not leave the consumer short-handed. ... show more

  • The fail safe part is stress relieving
I have just replaced my thermostat about a month before buying this one and this one has been a beauty so far by outlasting the previous ones life.

  • Great thermostat, but what were they thinking?
Thermostat did it's job. It should have came with a new gasket or o-ring. Reused the original one and it had a slight water leak. I went to town to buy a replacement o-ring, but it was an oversized one and it caused a much larger leak. I reused the original o-ring with form-a-gasket to stopped the leak. All because a gasket or o-ring which was not included caused me to do the job three times. I do not need anymore experience changing the thermostat. ... show more

  • Perfect fit, easy
Ford Explorer 2000 4.0 SOHC. Perfect fit, easy, 20 minute job. Solved the issue of my temp gauge reading low. Several things I liked: 1- made in USA. Its a quality part, robust, well made- not like the cheap thermostat it replaced 2- fails open- the one it replaced failed shut which could have been very bad indeed thankfully it did so in the winter. well worth it. ... show more

  • Great thermostat, worth the extra money for failsafe feature.
Easy 2 minute install in 2003 Explorer 4.0L V6. My original thermostat came out broken in two pieces, this one fixed my car right up. Make sure to buy the Motorad MG-28 Gasket-Seal too, you need it to complete the install. Don't cheap out on a regular thermostat, a failsafe thermostat is cheap insurance against the damage caused from a broken thermostat overheating your motor. ... show more

  • Kept as a spare
I ordered two kits, one had a thermostat so I am keeping this as a spare-it is the identical part as the kit.
