  • A wonderful phone for the price...
Color: Blue Style: Unlocked Smartphone
So I came from a moto edge 2021 so technically spec wise this phone is a downgrade since the edge comes with 8gb ram and 256gb and this one the moto g stylus comes with 6gb ram and 128gb storage. I honestly don't notice any difference between the two. Yes this model isn't 5g but i didn't care for that as i wanted to either fix the screen of my moto edge which i broke the first day i got (fell out the car) but i used it till earlier this April 13th and i got that phone on 1/10/23. One advantage is i have up to 512gb micro SD storage if i shall please and that's something i didn't have with the old phone. So i lost NFC payments, big deal cause I rarely used that feature anyways. As for the fingerprint sensor, it works flawlessly on the moto g stylus but i did have much trouble with it on the edge. Battery life on this phone is great. I don't expect it to last forever but it last me easily an entire day and not two days like promised but then again I'm on this phone constantly. Screen is great, same as the moto edge 2021 i had same screen actually. This is a nice phone, if you don't care for 5g, but want a good phone at the current price of $169 it can't be beat which is why I jumped on it and with additional credit i had on my Amazon account my total cost for this phone was $121 i couldn't resist it. I have no regrets and love this phone. I also loved the moto edge but this one is just as good technically a downgrade from what I had but still good. I would recommend this phone. Gaming haven't had problems. 90hz refresh rate is ok old one had 144hz but i can't notice the difference. ... show more

  • 3 Years of updates (promised)
Color: Gray Style: Unlocked Smartphone
Update: Got Android 13 (after Android 14 came out), security updates have been consistent ( every 3 months), touch screen still works well, lot's of storage left. Software is great, love my moto! Upgraded from a MotoG Power 2021 to the Moto 2022 Edge and the difference is night and day. I am 3 weeks with it and I seriously like this phone. Being so thin and light weight is a huge plus. It fits in my pocket or work vest easier and doesn’t feel like it’s dragging me down., I use it to clock in & out with my work app, watch video’s at break, texts, phone calls etc. Reception and voice quality is much better. . I’m really, really impressed with this phone. It just works. Pro’s: It’s fast (for me)! It’s slender and light, this is a huge like. I was worried about the finger print sensor, it works great so far. The display is bright and crisp. Reception and voice quality is very much better. Battery life is great, it will last 2 days of light use & easily get thru a day of heavy use (for me). Camera is a huge upgrade and fun to use. Motorola software is easy to use, and finally, they’re promising extended software updates. Con’s: It’s slender and light, and feels fragile. I don’t want to try a back pocket test, cause I’m paranoid about sitting on it. Poor water & dust rating,I really wish this was better. No expandable memory (256 GB is plenty for me so meh). Cost nearly 3 times as much as the phone it replaced (and worth it). Update 8-20-25 Just got android 15 update. Happy surprise. Still love this phone. ... show more

  • Under $200, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, low bloat phone - I like it
Color: Blue Style: Unlocked Smartphone
I've been a Moto phone buyer for a while now. They usually have a good price/performance ratio, okay reliability, and low levels of bloat with a mostly stock Android experience. This phone does everything I need it to, and does it pretty quickly thanks to the 6GB RAM. The relatively large internal storage also means that I shouldn't really have to offload stuff, other than maybe photos/videos, to an SD card. All the basic features work pretty well. Good reception, decent speaker, fast GPS, etc. Very few real complaints with this phone. Battery life is just okay. I used to have an older G Power with a massive battery, with a very long battery life. This G Stylus still has good enough battery life, especially if you "trim the fat" a bit, app-wise, and listen to music more often than watching HD videos. Days where I spend a lot of time watching stuff often leave me with 10-20% battery by bed time. However, nothing really stands out as amazing about it. I've never owned a flagship phone, so I don't know if there's some magical experience there, but this Moto phone is perfectly adequate for basically everything other than maybe extreme graphics applications/gaming. It's a great deal at under $200, in my opinion. Now if Moto/Lenovo would just make their phones easily serviceable, I'd wholeheartedly recommend them. Planned obsolescence sucks. Just make the USB-C port and the battery replaceable and I'd sing Moto's praises to the world. Did you know that officially the USB C port is actually rated for fewer insertions than Micro USB? Sure, that's partly a limitation of making it reversible (more pins in a similar form factor) but it also means, gee golly, our phones will break even faster. I wonder why the standard was adopted so quickly? It's too bad that phones are essentially expensive disposable toys these days. Basically, this Moto phone is me making the best of a bad situation. ... show more

  • Good budget phone
Color: Blue Style: Unlocked Smartphone
Great battery life. Can last all day lots leftovers, maybe a few days of light use. Trying it a new Motorola phone since the droid days. The droid was quite the phone back then, and it's too bad the company was not able to keep up making great phones. I would say for this around one hundred price, this is a great phone. Lots of fun gesture features and the screen is very good. Crystal clear and good colors. The camera is meh, though. If they could put a better camera in future phones that takes pictures similar to Pixel/AAPL/Samsung, then you'd have an amazing winner. Just to note, it is rather large for a phone. The stylus function is convenient, but not a wow factor. I can take notes on it just fine, but it does have a tinge of lag. ... show more

  • How to use this phone
Color: Blue Style: Unlocked Smartphone
This is a beautiful cell phone with more features than I need. It is heavy which makes it less easy to slip out of my hand .I am 74 years old and I want a cell phone that makes calls, receive calls, send and receive texts. The camera is beautiful -----takes excellent pictures of my grand kids and our first great grand son.Strongly recommend this phone to anyone who wants a well built cell phone with strength built by Motorola. Many people go with status about cell phones like i phone, etc.Grant there is great features to i phones but this Motorola phone does all that a big name one does. I wear a hip pouch and it fits perfectly. If I need to surf the web I can use this phone or my laptop.I do not the built in stylus as I have several pen like stylus .Overall a very excellent Motorola cell phone. Motorola has been making beepers long before cell phones came into being-----my opinion. My cell phone is a twilight blue and and with a red case it is very attractive. I chose a 2022 model as newer cell phone has many features/bugs to work out . Hope this review helps someone to get a new cell phone from Amazon.Make sure it is compatible with your carrier services, unlocked and GSM compatible.Very easy to switch out the SIM card and micro storage chip. When programming your new phone have them plugged side by side and transfer of info becomes a breeze. With fatherly Love and Regards for the Holidays. This phone comes with limited printed info. All the info you need is available when you plug in your new cell phone. Regards to anyone who likes a new Motorola Cell Phone. ... show more

  • Good but not great
Color: Gray Style: Unlocked Smartphone
I'll be honest, I'm disappointed by the moto edge. It's the little things that get in the way of this being a really good mid-range phone. The Good - Fast charging and long lasting batter, I plug it while getting ready for the day and by the time I head out the door I done charging for the day and I use my phone a lot, like way too much, I have problems. Good camera - not the best out there but probably the best moto has ever had, you won't be disappointed. 12G ram & 256G memory will cover the vast majority of your needs. The Bad - I haven't seen this much bloatware in any phone, it reminds me of a Gateway desktop from 2003 and if you don't know what I'm talking about ask your parents. The display is on the weak side, when you max it out you do get good brightness but it will eat up your battery. And The Stupid - The speaker for this phone is on the left side, so unless you hold it in your left hand (or put it on speaker) you will not be able to hear your conversation. It's annoying to say the least. At $598 you could find better phones but they've reduced the price to $349 and at that price it would be damn hard to find a better phone. I got it on prime day and saved another $200 and can guarantee I couldn't buy better @$149. So I'll hold the stupid thing in my left hand for awhile and smile. ... show more

  • So far so great
Color: Gray Style: Unlocked Smartphone
Coming from a s22 ultra, I was expecting to be let down by this phone, I was wrong. I've only had this day for 4 days, and I'm already glad I switched. Even though it is only 4 days, the phone has gotten a hold of my usage and I'm already getting close to that 2 day battery claim, and will definitely get there as it learns even more. My usage is mostly video streaming with light gaming and messaging, with around 8 to 10 hrs screen on time. The screen is beautiful and does switch automatically between 60-90-120fps, I haven't seen it push to 144 yet, but I haven't made it do it either as the auto switch to 120 is smooth enough that I can't notice it. I love this phone so far, and now promised 3 years of OS updates with 4 years of security makes it a easy thing for to hold onto for years. Thankfully Motorola offers an official case for this device because the other ones were meh at best. I would avoid the cloth case they offer and only stick to the soft protective ones, as the cloth one kept pushing the volume up button. The only other slight negative is that it was compared to my old s22 utlra so I don't have the 10x zoom anymore. Other than missing that, with a least decent light I got amazing shots with the phone. The ultra wide was good as well, and it even doubles as a macro lens which I love as a feature. And the main reason why I switched to this phone in the first place was for the moto actions like chop to flashlight and twist to camera, I missed then so much I wanted to get that back, and thankfully the phone it's attached to is actually a really good one to boot. I will update this review if any issues arise or if battery life majorly improves/decreases ... show more

  • Bad display, short battery life
Color: Blue Style: Unlocked Smartphone
I'm upgrading from a 2020 Moto G Power, a phone I loved for it's battery life and hated every time I tried to use it outside. The display had to be set to 100% to use inside and was almost unusable in bright light. The 32 gig of memory was also limiting so being otherwise satisfied with the Moto g series of budget phones I shopped for a replacement. I liked the price of the Moto G Stylus and the specs suggested an improved display over the Power, 90hz vs 60hz ,Max Vision Full HD+ vs HD, and has the same 5000mAh battery. Didn't care one way or the other about the stylus just considered it a bonus. After purchase and setup of the Stylus ,I was immediately disappointed with the display. There was absolutely no difference when I compared the Stylus side by side with the Power. No improvement whatsoever. Again very dim display that needed 90% brightness to be usable indoors and the difficult outside view was the same. If the display were ANY better at all I would have given this phone 5 stars. Everything else is very good for a budget phone, and the retractable stylus and associated software are easy to use . I'll never use it for more than jotting notes but I like having it. This is a budget phone and being familiar with the Moto G line I don't think I'm being too rough when I say the glaring flaw of this phone is the display. Update: I thought the display was the major flaw but now I have to add that battery life is horrible. Doesn't get me through one day much less the two days claimed by Motorola. I would not recommend this phone! ... show more
