I purchsaed this pump for a 12 foot tilt trailer that had a valve on the ram going port to port a manual setup. I read a lot of reviews and I was worried about a lot of people having problems with trying to find some non standard British fittings. It came in the box with 4 fittings. I removed the ones in the pump replaced them with the other provided. I made two hoses up for exact fit. Everything I used was power steering ram fittings. Welded a piece of flat bar 2"x3/8 8" long to the frame for mounting. I bolted the pre threaded pump block with M10-1.5x35MM to the welded flat bar. The the port coming out of the relay valve with the red knob on it is the pump (up) button and the other side of the block is the the (down). I adjusted the pump so it would not over pressure up or down, so it would bypass at a reasonable pressure. It lifted 2800Lbs with ease. The unit was properly prewired. All of the electrical stud contacts had to be torqued. Be carful the isolated relay contactor is a cheaper one but sufficient for the load. I Used two number 2 wire with no voltage drop at 3' long. Pump is fast. I installed some baffles on the hoses at A-B outputs to tame it down little. I dont think the solenoid and relays are water proof. If this thing will be exposed to weather I would build a cover over the pump electronics. I have only ran it 30-40 times to soon to tell if it will last. Good design well made product for the money. Unit came packaged good.

The media could not be loaded. Arrived packaged well with no shipping damage. Simple install. Battery positive connects to the large solenoid post (see photo, red cable), battery negative connects to the large post on the backend of the motor (see photo, black cable). The fitting adapter that came with replaces the installed fitting, it fits into the pump outlet and accepts a -6 JIC Female swivel. The pressure relief valve on this one ( the pressure setting screw is the lower one) was fully out and required loosening the lock nut and a metric Allen wrench to turn it in, I needed to turn it completely in to the stop to achieve full pressure and then tightened the lock nut and reinstalled the cap nut for the adjustment screw. The upper screw is for setting the flow allowed when the lowering solenoid is active (this is used to adjust how fast the hydraulic fluid is allowed to return to the reservoir and requires the same metric Allen wrench, turning it in slows the flow). The switch pendant work fine, I will be installing a weather proof connector ito the side of the box to allow easier access with the box closed and locked. So far I have loaded the dump bed with 5 large loads in excess of 8000 lbs and the pump unit had me issues supplying enough flow and pressure to lift it quickly and smoothly. My system has a 3.25 inch cylinder (see the video). At max pressure had no leaks or seepage at the pump unit. I did add a fitting to the tank to accept a 3/8 inch rubber line from the dead end of the cylinder but a simple breather/filter would also work just fine.

I have two of these things, and they worked fine for several months. But then they both started having motor issues, they barely run at all. I found that if I tap the motor housing with a hammer, they would sometimes wake up and run, but not always. So I took them both apart... and found the problem easily enough! That motor had that much moisture, corrosion, rust and dust in it, no wonder it wouldn't run. THESE MOTORS ARE NOT SEALED AT ALL!! The brushes were corroded tight so that they couldn't slide, the sides of the motor were rusty. So I got out the wire brush, brake cleaner, sand paper, and P'BLASTER. Took it all apart, cleaned it up, lubed it up, and re-assembled it. Put it back together with gasket maker between the motor housing sections to seal it up. They both run fine now, after 3 hours of work. This was basically a $200 crash course in electric motor repair. And I didn't even start talking about the stupid hydraulic fittings on the side of the pump. That's very frustrating when you are trying to install it and the local hydraulic shop can't even come up with the right thing. Check out all the other reviews that talk about that....! Hey, you get what you pay for!!! Why do we even buy from the Chinese!?

The media could not be loaded. I wrote a very helpful review about how to make this pump work if your old pump had a return line, but the Amazon review police didn’t like it and wouldn’t post it. I’ll try again. If your old pump had a return line, you can still use this pump. You just have to remove the old line from the cylinder and screw in a breather. I got one from my local hydraulics shop. You can see it in my pictures. It’s at the top of the cylinder. Everyone is correct about the instructions being terrible. This pump was supposed to come with an adapter for SAE fittings, mine did not. I brought my hose at the metric fitting that came with it the hydraulic shop and they gave me what I needed. So far it works just fine with an empty load but I haven’t had a chance to try it with a full load. I also can’t speak to longevity. It’s not difficult to install once you have the correct fittings. If your current set up is a single hose and your cylinder already has a breather then you should have no problems (other than getting standard fittings). The pump itself looks like the thread going into it is standard, but it’s not. Standard will fit, but loosely. Get an adapter for a correct one.
