I'm a multi-instrumentalist I've been playing for many years now. This is a fantastic instrument. I was drawn to it because it has a piano-layout, whereas most other kalimbas are symmetrical. I've had kalimbas for years but I never liked their layout, I always wanted one that looks more like a piano. I randomly went on amazon and looked for "kalimba piano layout" and came across this, I did this years ago but didn't find any. But piano layout is so important as all synthesizers, pianos, music theory, software, use this type of layout. While I like that symmetrical kalimbas can play chords easily, the piano layout lets you easily play all keys also it makes it so when you're practicing, in a way you're also practicing a synthesizer or a piano so it's easier to go between instruments. This is like a "piano laptop". Anyway, I really liked the packaging of this, I think the glossy wood looks great, and I really like the hard case that it comes with. And the manual looks good. The sound is nice, it sounds just like one would imagine a kalimba to sound. All in all, it's very professionally made and packaged. One thing is I wish the tines looked more like shiny metal tines as I like the look of metal. I also prefer the look of wider tines and I also wish it were easier to tune instead of using the foil that it comes with. With regular kalimbas you can simply adjust the tuning with a hammer. But regardless, this is a very serious and well made instrument and I'll have a lot of fun playing it.

I love this! It's fun to pick out a tune, and then to pick out a harmony as well. I think it actually has helped me in my piano playing! Great little instrument that you can play instantly---anyone! Unlike some other instruments, which require lots of dedication and time, this little gem can be enjoyed as soon as you get it. I like that it's so portable, too, and it's great to have when the power goes out. You really don't have to have any knowledge of music, just a good ear, to play it. Everyone who loves music should have one. The sound is wonderful as well.

I like the piano keyboard layout as it is easy to know what keys are which as the tines are not labeled. But if you know a piano keyboard then you will understand the layout if this kalimba just fine. It is a beautiful piece and the sound quality is decent. But I found this one harder to play than the kalimbas with the alternating notes. It's a personal preference. One could use easy piano sheet music to play this instrument. The unique tine shape was fine for me and it does strike a bit different than a flat tined kalimba. I probably would have kept this one but I found a kalimba that I liked the sound quality a bit better.

This is a beautiful kalimba. It’s the Moozica 36 key flatboard chromatic kalimba. I love that it plays like a piano and it sounds lovely. There are many songs that can be played on it and if you know how to play/read piano there is virtually no learning curve. I also love all the little Kokopelli figures on it.

I have a ckouple of melodicas I got from Amazon and I've had a lot of fun playing them. I'm a "hunt ? fo the sound player and the sound this little thing produces is heavenly. I'm 90 years old now and when TV gets boring -very often- I pick this up or a melodica. This is a very soft sound - hardly any volume so you needed quiet. Melodicas are just harmonicas with keyboards that you don't have any air to draw in. But where melodicas are loud, this is very soft andeasy listening. Songs like Amazing Grace and Golden Bells are super-good for this instrument. BTW, it is not a toy!!

I was very disappointed that the pretty box inside the shipping box had a hole in it. That should have been checked in the warehouse, it doesn't give a good impression for a first time buyer.

This kalimba is unique as the keys are arranged similar to a piano. It is great to practice songs anywhere without even carrying a portable keyboard. Also, it's easy to tune down the tine by adding a tiny piece of supplied aluminum foil. I had 2 that needed that. Otherwise, mostly are in tune, except couple that are slightly lower. Overall, I really appreciate this instrument with the nicely decorated artworks.
