In my research of which shears set to buy, I noticed that many buyers of other shears on Amazon were surprised at the small size of the finger holes. My hands are medium to large, and I didn't want to buy shears sized for smaller, female stylists' hands. Because Moontay advertised this set with larger holes, that made them a candidate for purchase. What made me buy is that they listed specific qualities about the steel, the heat treatment, and the hardness rating of that steel. Knowing these qualities is important in evaluating edged tools. Most manufacturers at this price point do not reveal this information. Upon inspecting my purchase, the finger holes were perfect for me. Also, I was very happy with the finish, tension adjustment, and sharpness. Manufacturing sharpness is a very time-intensive process, and I'm very happy to find it in a $40 set. The hollow grind of the blades is similar to more expensive designs. Furthermore, the case that came with the shears was pretty nice! It's not a throw-away case. You'll definitely keep your shears in there. Finally, the set comes with a tension adjustment key, which wasn't clear from the specifications. That's good to have if you ever get the scissors sharpened. Note that these shears have a premium edge design, so will be costly to sharpen, just as costly as expensive salon shears. Bought these to use as a ‘burner pair’ if shears while in cosmetology school as working on manikin hair tends to wear shears out faster, and I wanted to keep my expensive pair for working on real clients. They’re definitely sharp snd okay- but the finger holes are way too big- and this is coming from someone with larger hands & fingers. I ended up nipping myself with these a couple of times before giving up on them. You might be able to improve them by purchasing thicker finger ring inserts- but I doubt even those would be thick enough to correct the fit issue. I have large hands. Unfortunately, these scissors with "large finger holes" are still not large enough, and would be painful to use. They seem no larger than the free scissors that came with my hair clipper kit, from which I was hoping to upgrade. I must return these.

These weren't very sharp and wouldn't cut hair at the tip of them. You have to make sure to open before pulling away or it'll pull the hair. I only ordered because they were supposed to have bigger finger holes but they weren't much bigger then the ones I had.
