  • Great Family Tent!
Color: gray
The Moon Lence 8 Person Camping Tent was delivered in a nice carrying case. The case is somewhat heavy, which can be expected for an 8 person tent, but I was surprised by the somewhat small size of the case that would be easy to throw in a car or possibly even fit in a large backpack. (See photo 1) I have only been camping once and used an instant pop up 4-person tent the other time I was camping. This was my FIRST time setting up a non-instant tent with the poles. Overall, I feel like the setup was as easy as it could be. You can tell that many things were taken into consideration when designing this tent because at the end everything works out nicely. If you are like me and this is your first time setting up a tent, I would do a practice setup before your camping day. You learn things such as bringing a hammer to pound in the stakes. I am expecting to be able to set it up in 30-45 minutes the next time around. Instructions are provided, but they could be clearer - a few times my wife and I had to just 'figure it out'. (See photo 2 for instruction sheet, and photos 3 and 4 displaying what comes inside the carrying case). The aesthetics of the tent are very nice. A ton of tent stakes are provided and there are many spots including guidelines and loops on the 'inner' tents (more on that in a moment) to secure things down. Overall because this was just a practice run I only put about half the stakes in and was very pleased with the stability of the tent even though I only used half. With all the stakes holding it down I have no doubt this tent would be wind proof. (See photo 5 for the tent, notice I did not set up some guidelines) The last thing to mention is one of the coolest aspects of this tent. After setting up the outside of the tent, there are 2 inner tents that attach to the inside (one on each side). You can see these in my Photo 6. They are deceivingly large, definitely enough for a queen air bed with some extra room on the side. What I really like about this is that these inner tents have separate waterproof floors. I like that you can walk into the tent and then take shoes off and leave them outside before going into the inner tent which you can keep cleaner. I am 5' 11'' and I could easily stand up in the middle part of the tent. 2 doors on each side also create a nice breeze during the day to keep the tent cool. It was about 80 degrees and I didn't feel like the inside was very hot. Being able to close the outside of the tent and then unzip the two inner tents will create a nice family environment for my wife and I, and her mom and sister when we all use this to go camping. There is a close feel to it while still having separate extra space. Parents with a couple kids - this is your tent! I feel like it would be perfect for that. I hope this review is helpful for some people looking for a tent! I am not an expert or too frequent of a camper, but overall I am a happy customer and look forward to camping in this at the end of August. ... show more

  • One of the best 8-person tents you can get for the price. This is my second Moon Lence tent.
Full disclosure: I have not done a full night of camping in the tent yet, but I set it up in the yard with the help of one other person to get an idea of how it works and what it looks like, and how spacious it is. I received this tent as a promotion from Moon Lence in return for an honest review. I consider myself an honest reviewer and although I had a great first impression of this tent, I will update my review if anything changes in the future. Here are the takeaways: 1. The tent came in a fairly compact bag, albeit a heavy one, making it very convenient for drive-up camping, but difficult to transport any other way (not surprising for an 8 person tent). We did not find the instructions as complicated as other reviewers made them seem. The instructions are simple because the set-up is simple. The logistics were different from a lot of other tents I’ve seen, but if you follow the pictures and take your time, you’ll get there. 2. The design of the tent is rather unique. It’s basically two tents with a space in between, all encompassed in a large outer-tent. It would be perfect for a family with kids, two couples, or a bunch of friends camping together. The middle space can be open on the ground, or you can attach the included tarp to serve as a mat between the inner tents. In the case of inclement weather I would suggest putting a large tarp under the entire tent to keep the ground dry. 3. Slight negative: The tent is not triple-stitched. We do have a small two person Moon Lence tent that has been used for years that has the same stitching and the two-person tent hasn’t had any issues, but I would definitely prefer to have the tent triple-stitched for the piece of mind of knowing it will last for many years. I will update my review if anything changes. 4.(Not really a negative, but something I wish this tent had): My MoonLence 2 person tent has fantastic aluminum, magnetic poles, and they are the sturdiest tent poles I’ve had of any tent. This 8 person tent does not have the aluminum magnetic poles, it just has standard run-of-the-mill poles. I wouldn’t say this is a negative because this is to be expected with pretty much every tent on the market, but the aluminum magnetic poles are just so nice that if this tent were to have them too, it would definitely make this an absolute no-brainer and the best 8 person tent on the market for the price. Overall this tent seems to be a solid-quality 8 person tent. You can certainly find triple-stitched 8 person tents out there, but they’re going to cost you 2-3 times what this tent costs. Since I have experience with Moon Lence products (I own two camping chairs and the two-person tent I mentioned before), I can say with confidence that if this tent holds up as well as the other products I have, then it’s a good investment to make if you’re looking for an affordable and spacious tent. ... show more

  • Great roomy tent, fit a family of four with room for two dogs
The tent set up wasn’t terrible. Four poles total, ample tie downs and once assembled, seemed sturdy. I would suggest better assembly instructions. But I think it took my husband and I less than 30 minutes to set up once we realized our mistakes and started over. No leaks when we had light rain during our long weekend camping trip. Pics attached give you a better idea of the interior set up: it’s basically two separate tents suspended/hooked underneath a larger cover. No windows except for the doors that face inward toward the common area. Since windows are typically the source of leaks, I liked that detail. We set the tent up on a large tarp to prevent extra dirt in the common area which is covered with a separate floor attachment (hooked) to both of the interior tent rooms. The tarp kept things tidy-er. We camped with four people and two dogs (one large dog). Husband and I and two dogs in our side, which fit a large dog bed comfortably, and two kids (one on a cot, the other on a floor sleeping pad) in the other side. Very roomy. Gave four stars only for the lack of clear set up instructions, but honestly, I’ve seen worse. ... show more
