  • WILL DRAIN YOUR LIFE AWAY
This is a mix of MH3U and MH4U. Most of the characters from the two previous games will make appearances as well as many of the field maps. No swimming but mounting monsters has been transferred to this game. The biggest addition is the special moves you can now perform. In fact the game pretty much revolves around it. My biggest gripe would be the small monsters have been made to be INSANELY ANNOYING. You will not be left alone to carve or gather for a second without a small monster knocking into you. Also; compared to MH4U the story is a bit lacking. In the end it's a great game with unlimited replay value. Be prepared to sink at least a couple hundred hours into it. ... show more

  • *Amazing game!*
This was my first game for my New 3DS, and even after getting four more games after this one: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Smash Bros., Animal Crossing, and Pokemon Sun, Monster Hunter: Generations is still my favorite game for my 3DS. It is an RPG where you are a Hunter, hunting monsters to collect resources to make new armor and new weapons so you can hunt stronger monsters. There is a single player story, although the storyline isn't really much. There is an Online or Local hub, where you can join friends near you or random players online. Online hunting is very fun, and not a horrible struggle to get working. Although this game is rated Teen, it doesn't have bad gore or horrible death scenes or anything. There is little blood at all, and when your characters health gets down to zero, you don't die a horrible death. You just faint, and are returned to your starting area to continue your hunt. There are many different monsters to hunt throughout the game, each with their own unique look and attacks. There are also new, stronger versions of some of the monsters, called Deviants, that are best to take on with friends. I'd reccomend this game to anyone who likes games, its a great game to join the Monster Hunter series with. ... show more

  • Exactly as expected!
The game arrived intact, brand new, and works perfectly. I should address some things about MHGen, though, because some people complain about it. No, it is not the same as MH4U or MH3U, it has different features and is somewhat more online-focused, but it is still a great game in the 3DS/handheld lineup and the new monsters are both challenging and interesting, with unique designs. If you're new to Monster Hunter, I highly suggest trying the demo first. It is a difficult, challenging game that requires dedication and skill in order for it to feel truly fun and exciting. If you are new, you will fail a few times, since it has a steep learning curve. If you stay positive, you will get better. Learning to dodge is key for every fight, and there are so many free resources and videos out there to help you if you don't know what to do. If you feel lost (I do sometimes, even as a returning player), there phone apps and Reddit boards that can easily answer any questions you might have as a beginner. Yes, it has a lot of cat-related and other puns. Do they get a little old? Sure. But it's so easy to skip through conversations that it shouldn't be an issue. Overall, while it has its weaknesses, such as the randomized food bonuses (ugh, why?) and a lower HR for Village quests, MHGen is a great game. I would recommend it more to serious gamers than casuals, but once you get a hang of it, it's the kind of game that has near infinite replayability. I got it for less than $17, and for that price, MHGen is definitely a steal. ... show more

  • I love this game
Holy cow! I love this game! I've been a fan of this series since 2010 and was excited to know that all the villages I remember visiting were going to be in one game! I love the concept of travelling to other villages to help out. The character customization is way better in this game than previous. The monsters, holy cow they are awesome! Especially, the "fated four" or flagship four. My favorite out of those four is the Glavenus. Who doesn't like a t-rex with a flame-bladed tail to kick your butt? I've put over 17 hours in this game so far and feel like I'm still in the beginning. I also like the fact that they tease you of the four flagship monsters, seeing as I've noticed that if you play the mission they're previewed on, you don't get to see them again. I tried this with the intro mission with the Glavenus, but I didn't get to see him after the initial mission. Boo. I just love this game! ... show more

  • Amazing action RPG game
If you're familiar with Monster Hunter games, then you know what you're getting in to. Otherwise, for those who aren't familiar, Monster Hunter Generations is a game where you hunt monsters and animals and use their bodies to make armor/weapons. There are other activities to do in the game, but the main focus is upgrading your armor and weapons to fight bigger and bigger monsters (sometimes dragons). ... show more

  • its pretty good but the controls (even on the new 3ds/2ds xl) are bad
while its not as accessible as monster hunter world it is honestly worth a play if you like that game, its a bit more obtuse and grind than world is in my experience but i had a lot of fun with it despite the controls. even with the new 3DS nub it is a pain in the butt to control. it may be better on switch though... or through an emulator with a controller. ... show more

  • Time killer for sure
Great game. I play solo which requires a lot of strategizing, planning, and collecting. It's doable and countless missions. Graphics are nothing like you see on switch but good enough where the game looking good enough and moves fast enough for you to be successful. I've become a fan and would recommend for anybody who needs to kill time for flying. You can play for hours solo and not even notice might even be disappointed that you already arrived at your destination. ... show more

  • Good game for fans of God Eater type gameplay.
This was my introduction to the Monster Hunter series. A friend of mine had gotten the game a while back and couldn't stop talking about it so I decided to try the demo, and I got hooked, clocking upwards of 50 hrs testing out the monsters and different weapon styles. The game is very immersive, with many areas for one to customize and personalize their gaming experience. From my experience in the demo I disliked the prowler play mode but having played the full game I'm proudly a Prowler for life. Currently awaiting the English port for Double Cross! ... show more
