I have not used these yet. I hope I never ever have to! But they look well-made and looks like it is very easy to pull it right out of the packet when you need it. It came in a pack of two so I have one in the kitchen and one by my barbecue grill. I think it will be so much easier to use than a fire extinguisher plus you don’t have to worry about replacing it every few years like you would a fire extinguisher.

I'm assuming they'll work. Thank goodness I have not had to use them to give it a good rating. Everyone should always have this for your home safety. I purchased them for all of my family. I felt comfortable knowing that if there was a situation, they would just have an added safety measure.

The 2-pack is nice. I keep one in my kitchen and one in my garage - the two most likely places for a fire to originate in my opinion. I tried lighting a corner of the blanket with a lighter and it did get blackened but wouldn't support a flame. That's a good sign! You can hang the red plastic bag on a wall and I think the intent is to pull down on the black straps to get the bag to open for accessing the blanket. However, because the bag is held closed with Velcro, it's a bit awkward using the straps to try to open the bag. In an emergency, I definitely would not rely on this method. I'd just pull open the Velcro and grab the blanket. For this reason, I'm deducting one star. I think a better closure would have a wide tab attached to the Velcro outside strip, where the tab had no Velcro on it, making it easier to pull apart the inner and outer Velcro strips. This is an inexpensive way to feel a bit safer around the house. Whether or not you have a traditional fire extinguisher, I think these blankets make sense to keep on hand.

Purchased the 4 pack for home use but fortunately I have not had to use them. I shared 2 with family members to help keep them safe. It is difficult to rate the durability of a product that has not been utilized but judging from the materials, it should provide the needed protection in case of fire. I removed one from the case and the size is perfect while being easy to unfold. I'm not sure about the heat it will withstand but the functionality appears to be there. I will update if it is deployed at some point in time.

First of all, pay attention and use the product as instructed and pay close attention not to get the fibers into your hand. The makeup of this item is such that it works fast and works well but care should be taken to know how to use it before you have to use it. The makeup of the sheet is such that it has fibers in it and those fibers can, like a porcupine, stick into your skin causing all kinds of discomfort. When compared to a fire extinguisher, though, this product works great in snuffing out the fire before it has opportunity to spread. One bad thing about using a typical fire extinguisher is the mess it leaves behind for you to clean up whereas the mess is minimal with these sheets as there is no spreading of chemical all over your counters, stove, or work area. The sheets can be mounted to the wall around your work area or kitchen and out of the way until they are needed and although you hope you never need them they are right at hand when you mount them properly and the instructions, if followed, allows quick deploying of the sheet to effectivly squelch the flames or prevent them from causing additional harm/damage and keep them from spreading to other areas. Again please read the instructions as how to deploy the sheets, how to grab them and what not to do because doing so can preven you from having the fibers cause injury to your body while deploying or using the sheets.
