  • For emergency use vs reusable regular use. Very lightweight and portable.
Size: 1 Pack
•Overall Impression: -This is a very nice emergency sleeping bag that's very lightweight, small and portable. -It's meant to provide a dry, waterproof, warm sleeping bag in an emergency. It's safety orange, so it's going to be highly visible in an emergency. -Note, it’s for one person and is made to fit a single person. -It's not going to be a camping sleeping bag you regularly use and roll back up. It's meant for single use or a couple of uses in an emergency. It's not one that you'll be able to easily roll back up and keep reusing for a long time. It's like a thicker, mylar emergency blanket in a sleeping bag style. • Pros-what I liked and what worked well: -Good value for the style, quality and how lightweight it is. -Super lightweight and portable. It's about 4 oz and is slightly smaller than a standard drink can. It would fit well in a backpack, bag, or in your vehicle. -Comes in a safety orange drawstring closed fabric bag to make it easy to carry, store and easy to see in your kit or bag. -7 feet long when unrolled in full. It should allow most people to fit completely in it from head to toe and cover their head for warmth and to stay dry. -Single person use, at 3 feet wide. It's meant for one person at a time to use. -Waterproof material to keep moisture and rain out and to keep you dry when laying on the ground. -Provides warmth like a thermal emergency blanket does. It's a similar material to a thermal emergency blanket, but thicker. This is a lot easier than trying to roll up in or tape emergency thermal blankets together to make a sleeping bag. -Safety orange color to make it easy to spot in an emergency or rescue. -Has no unpleasant scent to it. • Cons-what I didn’t like and what didn’t work well: -No issues. • Tips & Thoughts: -I have silver mylar emergency blankets as well and I suggest adding one or more of those (not included) to your kit or emergency bag along with this. They will work well with this as additional warmth or a layer over and under you along with this sleeping bag. Or you could use them as a tent over you while in this bag. -If you're wanting an emergency or single use sleeping bag, this will work well. But if you want to get a lot of uses out of it and roll it back up and reuse it it's not really going to last for that. You'll need a sleeping bag designed for long term vs just temporary emergency use for that. -I put mine in my emergency backpack. I also put it in a waterproof plastic zipper bag of my own for extra protection. ... show more

  • Just Another Mylar Emergency Bivy
Size: 1 Pack
This is a standard mylar emergency bivy bag. They are only intended for one time use during emergency situations. They are not intended to be used as a regular long term sleeping bag or an ultralight sleeping bag. Yeah sure if you have to use it once and are easy on it you could probably roll it back up and save it for one more use, but that's about it. This one is just like all the others you see all over Amazon. It is just a nice full sized, orange, mylar bivy inside a small, orange, nylon stuff sack. They are all just an extra large mylar blanket folded in half and taped together. There are usually only 2 types. Ones with a sorta hooded head wrap section at the top and ones without it. This is one of the ones without the head wrap section, which pretty much is just as good as the other. It's even long enough that you could cut a little off the top leaving a head wrap section on the bottom if you wanted to. These things have became super popular nowadays for emergency kits, bugout bags, and survival kits. They can also be cut open into a large blanket to make an emergency shelter out of it. They are very effective if used correctly and can absolutely save your life in a bad situation. There are several videos out there on the interwebs that show how to correctly use one and I do suggest you watch some if you are not familiar with these. If used incorrectly they can cause you to sweat until you are very wet, which almost always means certain death in very cold conditions. So definitely watch a few videos on them. I only have one complaint about this one and that is the price. Like I said earlier it is just like all the others out there yet it is pretty much twice the price as most of the others. That I do not understand. Whether it is this one or another, either way I do recommend getting a couple because they are great for their intended purpose and can save your life. As far as the quality of this one I would absolutely recommend it, however I do not recommend the price! ... show more

  • Great but very difficult to stuff back in its bag
Size: 1 Pack
i was flabbergasted at just how small this is... it it about the size of a adult closed fist, but unrolls into a nice big bag. As to be expected its very thin and not something you would want to use on a regular basis, but as an emergency bag, its great. it is possible, but not easy to get it to fit back into its provided stuff bag, I didn't bother trying to re-roll it but with some patience and persistence was able to get it back into the bag... so easier than putting toothpaste back into a tube, but not by much :) That being said, if you are looking for something to leave in your car in case of emergency or even carry in a backpack or handbag in case you are every stranded somewhere, this is extremely small and light and exactly what you need... i found it to be very warm, which is really what matters. ... show more

  • I expected more
Size: 1 Pack
As a former scout leader, I've done lots of camping including some high adventure events. I never had an emergency sleeping bag, so I really wasn't sure what to expect. That said, I expected more than what amounts to a lined trash bag. It's probably not a fair comparison, but that's what it seems like. I was hoping for a multiple use bag that can be taken on backpacking trips, but I wouldn't use it for that. I'd keep it in the car in case I got stranded - you know, for an emergency. The ad shows it being used for camping, but that feels misleading to me. I did not test it because I didnt think I could get it back in the carrying cinch sack. I'll assume it's large enough to hold most people. If you're looking for a single-use(?) large trash bag kind of emergency bag, then this should work for you. If you're looking for a backpacking bag, this probably will not work for you. ... show more
