This is a well-thought-out and well-made car camping tent. Construction is from durable fabric with decent telescoping aluminum poles and lots of netting, but with a capable rain fly included as well. The tent lacks a bathtub floor, something I look for in any tent I get (other than an ultralight), but the construction is otherwise excellent. Zippers are good,. There are convenient pockets inside. It's a nicely designed tent. I say this is a good car camping tent because it's way too heavy and big for backwoods camping. But for car camping, it's ideal. What makes it good? 1) The collapsible poles that remain in place when the tent is stored make setup quick and easy. The poles are permanently attached to the tent with unions holding the poles together at top. To set the tent up you lay it out on its floor, raise and set the roof poles, extend the leg poles, stake it down and cover it with the rainfly. 2) The rainfly has a huge awning integrated into one of its sides that provides a large covered area underneath when extended, providing relief from sun or rain. A picnic table or eight camp chairs can fit under the awning. Now, the negatives. I've mentioned weight. The tent weighs just a hair under forty pounds. I should also mention that the included poles to hold up the awning go in the middle of its extended length--an arrangement necessary to keep the awning from collecting water. But it would be nice if the tent included shorter poles to hold up the end of the awning to allow more ground clearance. As it is, the last three or four feet of the awning are hard to use because the awning includes only stakes and cords to anchor its far end, meaning that the end of the awning descends to just a couple feet above the ground. ... show more

This is a large 8-person tent and seems really nice so far. It was pretty easy to set up, and I like that it has a few different setup options. One thing to keep in mind is the tradeoff with a bigger tent—it is fairly heavy. Because of that, it’s probably best for camping where you can park close to the campsite rather than carrying it a long distance. The height inside is great and gives plenty of room to move around. I got this for my daughter and son-in-law since they often take her brothers camping, and I wanted them to have more space for everyone. We haven’t used it on an actual camping trip yet, so time will tell how well it holds up, but first impressions are very good. ... show more

I've been using this Mobi Garden Skyloft tent for car camping and it's decent for what it is. Setup is ridiculously fast because the poles stay attached to the tent, you just unfold everything, extend the telescoping legs until they click, and you're basically done. I have a smaller version of this from walmart. It takes maybe 10 minutes with two people, doable solo if you're patient. The thing is massive inside, easily fits two queen air mattresses with room left over, and you can actually stand up which is nice. The front awning is huge and creates a great covered area for a table or chairs. Now the reality check. This tent weighs close to 40 pounds, it's an absolute chonker, so forget about backpacking with it. The rain fly is a beast to wrestle onto the frame, it's heavy and confusing to orient correctly. The floor is pretty thin so you'll want a tarp or footprint under it, and maybe something inside too if you're using cots or furniture. I had one pole that took several tries to lock into place, which made me wonder about durability in strong winds. The zippers work fine but there are a ton of them to keep track of. The awning end just stakes to the ground instead of having poles, so the last few feet hang low and aren't super usable. For fair weather car camping with a small group, it does the job and the price is reasonable, but just know what you're getting into. ... show more

I got this tent so that my family could go camping and it wouldn't be quite so much work to setup a giant tent that can fit all of us. I decided to give this one a try and here are my thoughts: Pros: - The structure itself is easy to setup, strong, and lightweight. - It's tall enough that we could all stand up. But we're short, so if you're over 6 feet or so, it might be tight - The bag fit everything the first time without having to refold - The poles that hold up the awning are cleverly designed and the place where they connect seem very high quality. Cons: - The cover/rain fly is a pain to put on. It's massive and heavy and very difficult to figure out which way is which. - This thing is heavy and huge. The rain fly is as heavy as the test of the tent put together. - The floor is very thin. I don't think it'll keep out cold or moisture. - There's about a million zippers to keep track of - The biggest problem is that there is only a floor in half of the tent. I feel like that is false advertising. This is the biggest reason for the low rating. If you're going to sell an 8 man tent, it needs to have a floor on the bottom of the entire thing. The rest of it is decent, but this glaring issue means that I can't use it for my family, which was the whole point. Don't buy this unless you have 3 or less people who need to sleep in it, because anyone else will have to sleep in the dirt. While the basic structure was easy to setup, with the rain fly and stakes, it was more difficult than a cheaper, 4 man tent. Overall, I think this is a terrible value for the money, and would not recommend it to anyone. ... show more
