There is a lot to like about this product. Great for kids learning to garden. The containers are sturdy, a manageable size, and easy to set up and use. It is nice that you can to see the root growth through the clear plastic cells. If you want succession plantings throughout the season these are attractive enough to keep a couple of them out on the counter. If you don't abuse the clear plastic inserts when you remove the plants you can reuse them. Replacement cells are available as well. I have used other seed starting trays and they are flimsy or too large for kids to manage. You can fill the cells with soil or use a jiffy pot insert. ... show more

Seems to be well made. Great price for what you get. The included lights work well the first week or so of a seedlings life. The power cord comes as a cluster to operate all 6 seedling domes, but if you only have 1-2 domes the remaining cords can be bothersome.

This set seems sturdy enough and high quality but it will not accommodate Jiffy peat pellets. While they fit at the top, the cells are significantly smaller at the bottom, so once expanded the peat can't reach the bottom (without some serious squishing and water loss).     • Awesome little mini germinators for indoor germination.

Small but mighty in terms of space saving and plant germination. Great for people germinating early spring plants in a back bedroom. So good, in fact, that I bought a bunch more and found out a gardening buddy had the same experience. We both agreed that seedlings can only be raised in these for about 5 weeks, then they need to be hardened off outdoor and placed in a greenhouse to finish before setting outside in the ground or container in a challenging climate like western Colorado (5b). The light does cause some condensation on the lid under surface, which may or may not drip onto the seedlings. In a super dry climate, it's best to check these units once a day to make sure that moisture levels are correct. Having a little water collect in the bottom of the lightweight trays is a very good thing in a dry, indoor environment. ... show more
