The media could not be loaded. This housing looks as if it was almost chromed it is so shiny! Looks aesthetically nice. Where the o-ring return line goes the surface inside is mirror finish. I returned two of these to a different seller that had bubble contaminated coating inside the return tube. I included pics in that review look that review up . You will be glad you did. O-ring would never seal because of it. This kit I upgraded the o-ring to HBNR harbor freight made GREEN orings they have wider temp range and last way longer than regular orings. See pic. Green o-ring is a little fatter and better made. I recommend getting this product as a whole kit not the stripped kit. This product has no loose flashing ( like the two other ones I returned) that can come off inside the housing to ruin your water pump or clog radiator. This product is super smooth inside. All around this is a quality 5 star product. I bought two of these for separate vehicles and both have excellent quality. Warning —>Zip tie locking clip so it can never come off. I was done servicing the transmission. While installing the transmission oil fill cap I bumped the return line clip ever so easy. The hose popped off burned my left arm. Luckily I had a jacket on. Zip tie return line clip. If it can happen it will. Zip tie clip so it never comes apart til you want it too. Buy this whole kit you will be glad you did . Don’t go cheap buy the whole kit for this job to be done WITHOUT ISSUE! Update 3-25-26 bought Dorman lifetime warranty hose return line fix from Rock Auto . DORMAN {Alternate Inventory Numbers: 626-609} OE FIX The heater hose end is a common source of coolant leaks for Chevrolet Cruze vehicles due to a weak plastic adapter between the hose end and the water outlet. Heat and age can make the plastic brittle, or the tab can snap off during service. This Dorman OE FIX heater hose assembly features a redesigned mating connector to eliminate the fragile adapter supplied from the factory, providing a more secure connection for a longer service life. For a replacement water outlet, Dorman offers the 902-846. It says it won’t fit Chevy trax but it does . Eliminates oring in the middle. This is the way to go and be done for good!!!! Oring is fat on the Dorman part. It goes in snug and feels quality. Middle oring would seep over time on this kit purchased. Buy this kit with the oe Dorman fix part — your done!

Nice to have an aluminum part, vs the plastic part that has broken twice. Part fit as designed, no issues. Only took about 25 minutes to remove/install. Would definitely recommend as a replacement. I'd add Loctite to the threads, as the screws were barely over hand tight when removing the original part.

I've had this upgraded aluminum water outlet installed for about 2 years now, I've recently started having a coolant leak that pooled up on top of the transmission. I took the water outlet off and found the gasket included in this kit was disintegrating. I just swapped the gasket out for a Felpro one and there are no signs of a leak anymore. All in all this is a good part that is holding together. Pair it with a quality gasket and it should last a while.

EDIT AGAIN: I had another small leak, used harbor freight viton kit (A113) and put the o-ring into the housing first then slid the dorman one-piece style plastic piece through the middle. Hasn't leaked since and no chance for a slice. EDIT: Developed a leak at the o-ring after 6 months due to heat; get HNBR or EDPM instead of nitrile (see last pic). Harbor Freight has an HNBR set for like $13. This water outlet is a great upgrade over the stock plastic version. Installation went smoothly overall, but I did run into a leak at the coolant recovery hose. The issue was that the clip cutout has a sharp edge, which kept cutting the O-rings during installation. Engine oil alone wasn’t enough to help, but a little Vaseline did the trick, and I was able to source a replacement O-ring from a Harbor Freight kit. One tip: if your upper heater core hose has been exposed to oil, it’s worth replacing at the same time. Mine had turned gummy and looked like it was about to burst.

This was a perfect direct replacement for the all plastic coolant housing outlet that the car came with that always breaks in two years. This thing is made out of metal, so installing this completely eliminates plastic cracking in the coolant housing outlet entirely.
