abunda_amazon_reviews I would’ve given this 5 stars if it wasn’t for a couple of reasons. 1) the barb nipple for the overflow hose would not thread into the filler neck of the radiator which forced me to use jb weld epoxy to install it and get me home. 2) the lower transmission cooler line fitting that was supplied with the new radiator would not work with with my application so I used the original copper adapter from the take out radiator. So far it is keeping the Jeep temps under 210* with AC on, in town and outside air temps near 105. I’m using oem thermostat (195*) water pump and fans. The radiator looks really nice and it looks to be worth the money. The proof is in the performance....so far so good. It will be 120* here soon and that will be the real test. UPDATE!!! It was 114* today so I took the jeep out for a test. You can see in the pictures the temperatures I saw on the gauge. This was combined city and highway driving at normal speeds with the A/C on. 20 mile total trip. The third picture shows the hottest it ever got and that was driving up a 7% grade at 35-45 mph for four miles, again with the A/C on. To compare, the same trip was taken with the old radiator, A/C off, and 105* outside temp and the jeep temperature was a constant 225*, far right of the center of the gauge. I'm really pleased with the new radiator and would recommend it.;;Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2018;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;2001 Jeep XJ;;GXPLORE;;/gp/customer-reviews/R1JBJVAB71ICR1/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B074R9S4X4;;;1996 Cherokee. 3 inch lift. 31” tires. I live in Phoenix. It’s 113f today. Commute home is 45 minutes in stop-and-go traffic. (Temp gauge on this jeep is a real gauge so very active.) Temp didn’t go above 220/225f. The A/C blows cold. I have done several trips up the i-17 to Flagstaff. 5 mile stretches up the hills causes the temp to go up to 225-230f then on the downhill the temp drops back down to 180f. Amazing to watch the effectiveness of this radiator. Would give 5 stars but the safety latch piercing the radiator spoiled the “plug-and-play” experience. I use my Jeep for Sunday cruising and off road trails/parks. When the radiator showed up, I was impressed with how it was packaged. You don’t have to worry about it getting shipping damage and it had that high quality detail to it. Installing the radiator was breeze and only took about an hour to complete the swap. The ONLY downside in my eyes was the bottom transmission hook up. On my Jeep I had the factory snap connect on my trans line that goes to the nipple on the radiator. The nipple that comes on this radiator is a touch too big to slide the snap connection to so I had to snip off the snap connect on my factory trans cooler line and use a small hose clamp. No big deal and I don’t believe all Cherokee years are setup like mine. Most videos online show a hose clamp like this radiator is designed for. PERFORMANCE- before I would get to 220 degrees easily on the tight trails and about 200-205 on the road. Now, I run 180-190 on the road with the air turned off and about 200-205 on the trails. The big kicker is if I run the air conditioning (that forces the electric fan to run) I never get hotter than 190.....ever! The overflow tube didn't appear to have good threads and knowing it's aluminum I was extra careful to thread it in. But it still stripped so I'd say QC on this part is poor.. I brazed the overflow tube on the neck and it's good to go but a bit of a disappointment in both regards. Other items- mine is fine with the center latch. My upper radiator hose steamed over like old faithfull on a test drive as I couldn't get the stock clamp closer to the radiator. So I used my cutting wheel on the the radiator support to give me more room to move the clamp right against the radiator tank. I do not notice a temperature reduction so I'm still at 210, but this radiator is much nicer and had more coolant capacity than the stock type with the plastic tanks. Slight modification when using in xj with ZJ fan clutch
IF YOU ARE USING THIS RADIATOR IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE LARGER ZJ FAN CLUTCH, YOU MUST EITHER DECK THE FAN HUB WHERE IT BOLTS TO THE PULLEY OR MODIFY THE RADIATOR SUPPORT SO THAT THE RADIATOR TILTS TORWARD THE GRILLE.

no doubt better but missing one little part
Very nice radiator was having cooling problems with my stock radiator. Did some research and heard good things especially for this radiator so I figured I’d spend a little extra so far so good. Only down side is it came already open so not sure if it was actually “new” because I am now missing the overflow nipple and they are on national back order. So my system isn’t working properly and will start running hot just not as soon as it was will update once I get the overflow working. Install was easier than I thought just took the front clip off to give myself a little more room and it fit right in no problem. Had to make the screw holes for the fan shrouds a little bigger I’m assuming because the new radiator is just a little taller but no big deal. Next I will upgrade the mechanical fan clutch to a bigger zj fan clutch and get a newer A/C fan from a 97 xj and I should be good. Unfortunately it’s hard to say if it’s worth it yet without the overflow nipple I guess we will see.
