LLY Duramaxes are known to have an overheating problem. One solution involved adding an additional radiator. I did so right after purchasing my truck. It cured the overheating problem, but after14 years the extra radiator developed a leak. As the radiator from the kit is no longer available, I would have to have one custom made, at a cost higher than the Mishimoto radiator. A good friend raves about his Mishimoto radiator, so I decided to give it a try. I was pleased with all of the video documentation Mishimoto provides, including a very detailed installation video. When I received it I was extremely pleased with the quality. In reading the support material that came with it, I found it had a lifetime warranty, INCLUDING accident damage. Installation went well by following the installation video. In comparing its performance to the stock radiator, it’s definitely better than I remember. I don’t think it’s quite up to the performance of the dual radiator setup, but the cost is considerably less. I’m confident that it will work well for me. ... show more

    • Warranty
This item was labeled the best in the market. It kept my engine from overheating. However, it has lasted less than 4 years. For the original expense, I am disappointed. Is there some type of warranty on this item? Please let me know. Thank you.

    • Not for the Alison transmission!!
Be careful of buying this model if you have an Alison trans. The trans quick disconnect fittings will not match up with the mishimoto radiator. Everything else is fine and matches up well. If you have an Alison trans and purchase this you will either have to tap the new radiator, find the fittings that might fit or make your own. I ordered Chevy replacement fittings just to make sure the ones that were on my old radiator were not changed out. They were identical to the fitting I pulled from the old radiator and would not fit the mishimoto radiator. I called mishimoto and they stated this is the correct item for the truck. Obviously they didn’t test the Alison or whomever I taked to did not know what they were talking about. Other then the fitting being wrong it seems like a good radiator. I have not pulled the trailer with it yet but have noticed the trans temp runs a little cooler. ... show more

    • Does not cool as good as stock
I installed this radiator in my 2004 LLY Silverado last November. When summer came around (Arizona) the fan clutch wouldn't lock up, after spending many hours and over $1000 on other parts (water pump, fan clutches, thermostats etc.) I finally put the factory radiator back in. Instantly lower coolant temps and the fan would lock up as designed. With the Mishimoto radiator in I would hit 230 on the slightest inclines even without a trailer if the outside temps were over 90. Save your money and don't make the same mistake I made. ... show more

I spent years going back and forth on if this was worth the money. Well, I got one last year and in 13 months I've got myself a leak. We'll see how the warranty process goes, looks like they will charge me $100 for shipping on a new one. If it happens again, I'll go back to stock as I didn't notice a difference in the cooling ability of this one. ... show more

Its a nice unit, But it has a mounting problem. It blew Me away this is how they would send these out. If you just installed it loose in the bottom rubber it would move around and rub the inter cooler. It was also real sharp on that edge, It would of cut right through that rubber. It wasnt the prettiest fix in the world, But I used some rubber off the old hose and made it fit tight. I just got the truck going yesterday and it wasnt to warm and didnt hook anything up to tow. But I can say this, I had to run Her pretty hard to get Her to temp and as soon as I was out of the throttle. She dropped 30+ degs like right now. Also the inlet and outlet had some sharp edges. I just used some light sand paper and went around the lip. Hope they get this fixed or make up some hardware to get it mounting tight. As it seems to be a good product. ... show more
