Description
Protect your plants from over and under watering with Miracle-Gro® Moisture Control® Potting Mix. This gardening product feeds plants for up to 6 months and Grows Plants Twice As Big!® In addition, the exclusive AquaCoir® Formula absorbs up to 33% more water than basic potting soil. This potting mix works best with all types of outdoor container plants, including flowers, shrubs, vegetables, annuals, perennials, and more. To apply, select a pot with a drain hole and fill about 1/3 full with potting mix. Loosen your plant's root ball and place it in the pot. Add more mix and press in lightly. To finish, water your plant and let it drain. Let mix dry to the touch between waterings. To avoid soil compaction and replenish nutrients, container plants should be repotted annually. We recommend wearing gardening gloves when using this or other planting materials. One 8 qt. bag of Miracle-Gro® Moisture Control® Potting Mix fills two 8-inch containers. A good potting soil mix for moisture retention

I like Miracle Grow products in general as they have always worked fine when I have used them in the past. This was the first I had purchased this specific version of Miracle Grow potting soil, having used their basic or cactus lines in the past. Compared to their basic potting soil, this line does retain moisture quite a bit longer. I used this product in planting both new seedlings entirely in this mix and also used some of this soil to supplement soil in older potted plants chipmunks had dug out when scavaging our potted plants kept outside when warm. So far this moisture retaining soil has worked fine as in neither case did the plants require the soil to dry out between waterings. For any plants that do not like the soil on the dry side this soil appears to be a great choice. But if your plants do like their soil on the drier side of things I would not recommend this version of Miracle Grow soil as you might end up with root rot because it does stay so damp. I actually have cut back on my watering routine since using this soil as a result. I honestly am not sure I would purchase this again as their other basic soil line has always worked well in the past.

UPDATE: It's now SEPT, my plants ARE THRIVING. AMAZING how lush they look. Great soil. The plants in them are healthy, growing fast. I know very little about plants, but have a friend who does and mine are mostly in shade, so she picked the right kind for that amount or lack of sun. She had even found a plant just growing wild behind a shed here and repotted in this soil, and it started flowering. SO YES, I will always get this kind. _________________________________________________ I wanted a good sized pot of plants near my entryway and got this soil, put it in a large pot and a friend picked up some plants and planted for me, but I had to keep them alive. They're THRIVING. I just water them. EXCELLENT RICH SOIL. For gardening novices or those who have trouble keeping plants alive, I would suggest this and the price was right too.

My Indoor Herbs Are Thriving!

Miracle-Gro soils have consistently been the best mixes I've purchased and yield the greatest results every time. Over the summer, I planted a larger garden than usual and ran out of the Miracle-Gro bags that I'd purchase. When I went to buy more, I decided to try one of the other similar soil brands to save a little money and was very disappointed. The Miracle-Gro is definitely worth the extra money in order to yield the best plant growth results. I bought this smaller bag of potting mix to use to grow indoor herbs for the winter and my herbs are thriving! I have my herbs near a large window in my kitchen, but it's been so dark and grey that I also purchased a plant grow light for one of my kitchen fixtures to supplement the potting mix (this one: GE 49891 - F20T12/PL/AQ/ECO Fluorescent Plant Aquarium Light Bulb 1-pack. Together, this Miracle-Gro potting mix and plant light have allowed me to grow big, beautiful, healthy herbs indoors despite the freezing, grey winter in Erie, PA. Very happy with this purchase!!

Lots of humus

I repotted a very large plant. I bought two bags, but I only needed one. I thought it was a small bag, but it’s large, there’s a lot of soil in the one bag. It didn’t feel like dirt-soil. There’s a lot of humus. It’s suppose it’s for the moisture control. The first dose of water seemed to absorb well. I hope my plant leaves perk up now that they have new soil. * I write reviews to let you know how this product was for me, and to aid you in your decision to buy or not buy.

I really like this potting soil it was a little Heavy but not to bad ot came on time and I replanted my Lilly and my aloe and another household plant the soil has been doing great with the plants so far I would definitely recommend this and it wasn't a bad price with inflation the way it is I think the price was good for the amount and condition of the soil its dry when you get it but once I put Water on the plants it became the right amount of concisisty and held moisture well
