It entered service with the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service in the autumn of 1916. With pleasant flying characteristics and good manoeuvrability, the aircraft proved very successful. The Pup was eventually outclassed by newer German fighters, but it was not completely replaced on the Western Front until the end of 1917. Remaining Pups were relegated to Home Defence and training units. The Pup's docile flying characteristics also made it ideal for use in aircraft carrier deck landing and takeoff experiments.

Nice kit. Well engineered. Instructions are poor. Virtually nonexistent. The builder relies on photos which would be ok IF they were larger. Small photos of small parts of a small plane.....

I've never worked with balsa wood before. The material is interesting but delicate. Definitely get some all purpose model glue before you buy this. However, it's critical to know that the instructions for this model are atrocious. I have to look for videos online to assist with how to properly sequence the building of this plane. The instructions come on two sides of a page. They are strictly photos with negligible actual instructions. Sometimes the photos clearly do not show the correct sequencing either. Example, the model comes with some magnets which need to be placed into their slots early in the process. The photos in the instructions do not indicate this. ... show more

Poor electrical & finished product instructions dedicated to the purchase of the item received. Very vague indeed. They need a tutor!! Do I just plug this thing into some , modeling Clay??? Loose wires.
