Works surprisingly well. Of course no foot pedal, but you can adjust the speed by hand on the cord. Comes with air dry clay, a sponge and all the tools you need.

Got this as a present for my wife because she's very crafty and has talked about how much she liked doing pottery in school. This seemed like a decent kit for getting started so I picked it up. The description says "mini" and that is quite accurate, this is definitely small, but I knew that going in. The kit includes everything you'll need to get started, including the wheel, some air-dry clay, and a wide variety of tools for shaping, scoring, and decorating your clay creations. The wheel says it will hold somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 pounds, but I don't think you'd be able to fit that much clay on there. The motor was strong enough for basic use though. Only somewhat minor issue considering what this is meant for is the speed control. A foot pedal of some sort would be nice, because as it is, speed control is handled by a small knob on the power cord. If you're using both of your hands to work the clay, it can be difficult to get to and turn the knob, and you're almost certain to make a mess in the process. Spinning clay isn't the cleanest hobby in the first place though, so at least some mess is probably expected. All in all though, this is a nice kit for a beginner. It works nicely, and comes with a good variety of tools and materials to get started. ... show more
