  • Great for beginners, very relaxing
Color: GREEN
Got this as a present for my wife because she's very crafty and has talked about how much she liked doing pottery in school. This seemed like a decent kit for getting started so I picked it up. The description says "mini" and that is quite accurate, this is definitely small, but I knew that going in. The kit includes everything you'll need to get started, including the wheel, some air-dry clay, and a wide variety of tools for shaping, scoring, and decorating your clay creations. The wheel says it will hold somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 pounds, but I don't think you'd be able to fit that much clay on there. The motor was strong enough for basic use though. Only somewhat minor issue considering what this is meant for is the speed control. A foot pedal of some sort would be nice, because as it is, speed control is handled by a small knob on the power cord. If you're using both of your hands to work the clay, it can be difficult to get to and turn the knob, and you're almost certain to make a mess in the process. Spinning clay isn't the cleanest hobby in the first place though, so at least some mess is probably expected. All in all though, this is a nice kit for a beginner. It works nicely, and comes with a good variety of tools and materials to get started. ... show more

  • It's wild how decent this pottery wheel is.
Color: PINK
I got this pottery wheel because I watched a youtube video where the lady and her husband tried out different price points of pottery wheels - and this one is one of the style of the one they liked. So I got it to try. It's weirdly decent? Like - it comes with air dry clay and nothing I made was usable - but the activity is there. It comes with tons of stuff to try out and learn. Lots of little tools of various kinds. I look forward to learning more and hopefully making cups one day! ... show more

  • So much fun!!
Color: GREEN
This set is just a blast! I thought this seemed a little too kidish, but I was wrong. This is such a fun activity and not a very easy one either, as you can see my bowl didn't quite turn out how I wanted... but the process was fun nonetheless. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys creative activities. Just beware, this can make a huge mess. ... show more

  • Where’s the instructions??
Color: GREEN
I had understood this to be a beginner’s kit and wanted to love it, but after opening it and reading the instructions I’m left wondering what the heck am I supposed to do? I did some pottery in high school 20 years ago and am generally a crafty-intelligent person, but it doesn’t tell you how to actually make something. I’ll have to watch some YouTube videos to figure it out as I’d like to do it right the first try. Aside from that, the instructions are typical of what you get from an international company; just read the first sentence on my third picture where it’s zoomed in on the guy in the background. My second picture—- how are you supposed to even read that? It’s the exact same text on both sides of the paper. It’s like they meant to put another language on one side and didn’t. If you know what you’re doing already and this is something to teach kids, go for it if you think it’s a fair value. If you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s a gamble. Be prepared to spend more time researching the how-to. It does power on, though the cord is not long at all. ... show more

  • My review may not match the product you receive
Color: GREEN
This is for the Mini Pottery Wheel Kit - 6" Pottery Wheel for Kids, Teens & Adults Beginners, 2 Lb Air Dry Clay & 18PCS Clay Tools Included, Crafts for Home DIY, Ceramic Work & Art Creation in GREEN My kid and I both enjoy working with clay. A professional set up is out of the question for right now. We have bought or been gifted most small pottery wheels at this point. Most are laughable with minimal torque. I was pleasantly surprised that this one actually has almost enough power to turn while working with the clay. Note you will not get the same experience as a professional wheel. However, it will get you close to a decent experience. The clay itself is okay. I wedged it even though it was air dry clay. The tools provided are in the middle of the road. If you have already been working with air dry clay you probably have all of them. If this is your first time then you will be happy to get almost every basic tool provided. I would say this is a decent good starter set. ... show more

  • Perfect for beginners and so much fun!
Color: GREEN
My wife ordered this having no experience using a pottery wheel. It was easy to set up, though we put a plastic bag over the speed controller so it wouldn't get all messy. The speed range is perfect for beginners. It spins both directions so you can get a feel for what's comfortable. Our daughter had been given a kids pottery wheel previously. This one is made for kids, teens an beginner adults, but the quality is so much better than her other wheel. We were able to successfully make a number of pots that look symmetrical. The clay that's included is air dry and claims to take 24 hours to dry. It actually takes more like 48 hours to dry, even in the dryness of the winter. (Still a bit soft like plaster. ) It's perfect for practicing and so much fun! Definitely worth the price. It would be a great gift for an aspiring artist. ... show more

  • Small, speed control unintuitive
Color: GREEN
So I actually got this thinking that I could use it possibly for cake decorating. I've seen many do this and for the price I figured it'd be pretty cool if it worked. However it is very small and hard to get a larger platform to stay centered (doable but that's my own issue) however what makes this difficult to use (and I'd assume even moreso with clay as intended) is the manual speed knob on the cable. Whoever decided that this was a good feature obviously was looking for the cheapest way to do this. It's extremely unintuitive and difficult to use as one would expect . Imagine trying to spin clay and having really no control over the specific speed of your wheel. Taking your wet clay hands and having to turn a little knob every time you need to adjust? Then the cleaning. Yeah, as fun as this could be for kids just learning it is really more frustrating than anything not having the control one needs to feel comfortable using this. Cake decorating included. ;) ... show more
