  • very good
It’s heavy, and you can tell at a glance that it’s a relatively good product. It has multiple levels for adjusting the speed.

  • Affordable 3-Inch Mini Polisher with Quiet Operation
The Devmott 3" random orbital mini polisher has a practical, user-friendly design. It's easy to hold and operates quietly, even at the maximum speed setting of 6. Included accessories: *Two foam pads: a polishing pad (yellow) and a cutting pad (teal) *Wrench for polisher head removal *Replacement motor brush set *Detailed owner's manual The foam pads attach to the polisher head via hook-and-loop backing, making them easy to apply and remove. However, I noticed the two pads appear identical except for color—both feel equally firm to the touch, and close inspection reveals no visible difference in foam cell structure. I'm uncertain what distinguishes the polishing pad from the cutting pad beyond the labeling. The power cord features a polarized (but not grounded) plug. The included owner's manual provides multiple pages of useful information about the tool's operation and care. One inconvenience: The on-off switch and speed control cannot be operated from the same hand grip position. This may be a deliberate safety design, but it's not convenient. To adjust speed during operation, you must either use your second hand or turn the tool off, change the speed setting, reposition your hand, and turn it back on. If you're looking for a compact random orbital polisher, this is an affordable option that performs well. There are numerous third-party compatible replacement pads and accessories available to expand its usefulness for various applications. ... show more

  • Feels like a real tool
This Dual action is pretty substantial and powerful. The size is perfect for tight or narrow areas that a 6” can’t get to. It is a little heavy but I don’t think you will be using a 3” all day on large body panels. I have been using this for various paint touch ups after sanding and it has been working out great. The polisher comes with a compound and polish pad that i have used and they are decent. If you’re doing a lot of polishing work you will go through them pretty quickly but they will last several odd jobs. The example I posted was a door jamb paint touch up sanded to 3000 and then used the polisher with the included pads using Chemical Guys C4 cut compound and P4 Polish. There is a good speed range for pretty much everything you would need to do and each speed setting has a stop halfway between so you get a lot of speed control. I am very happy with it and i think it is well priced. ... show more

  • Great price, powerful corded motor, orbital motion prevents burns
Fantastic compact polisher, great for dehazing headlights. Powerful corded setup has more power than many battery powered polishers, and will never run out of battery as long as you're close to a power socket. The orbital motion also helps with preventing burns, which is particularly helpful for some European headlight lenses that are made of a much stronger plastic because I need to spend more time on these headlights to get them crystal clear. ... show more

  • Does the job!
I don’t detail my own car, but I handed this polisher off to my mobile detailer, and he seemed to really like it. He gave it a good try, said it did a great job polishing the paint, and, importantly, found it easy enough to use. That’s good enough for me! From what I saw (and heard from him), it didn’t feel overly cumbersome or intimidating to work with, it did a good job getting everything nice and smooth and shiny, and I definitely think it's a fair price at just under $60 (at the time of this review). ... show more

  • Forced Rotation Dual Action Buffer - NOT Random Orbital
First, let's properly label this buffer. It's listed as a "3-inch Random Orbital Polisher" which it is NOT. It's a "Forced Rotation Dual Action Buffer". The difference is the rotation is "forced" and never stops. With a Random Orbital Buffer, the pad can spin when the machine is not on, and it can be stopped from spinning when the machine is running. This difference may seem slight, but it is not. I won't belabor the point. You can research on your own if you're so inclined. Just understand this tool is a "Forced Rotation Dual Action Buffer". Side note: Most polishers of this size and type are also forced rotation DA buffers. The Random Orbit polishers are usually about 10" in diameter with two handles, and the RPMs top out at about 3600. There are literally hundreds of polishers to pick from so what makes this brand stand out from the rest? Very little in my opinion. It's a bit heavy and has no handle or palm grip near the top to minimize hand fatigue, which is likely with prolonged use. It's an average polisher. Not a bad polisher, just lacking a few features that would make it more appealing IMO. The buffer includes a double insulated motor with brushes that are easily replaced. The cord is 9' long, it comes with a wrench for removing the back plate, two buffing pads of average quality, and two replacement brushes for the motor (6mm x 8mm x 14mm w 4mm connector). It's a bit heavy and does not have a stabilizing handle or palm grip. The speed selector ranges from 1-6 but actually has eleven speeds as the dial stops midpoint between each number. Nigel Tufnel would be impressed. The RPMs range from 2000-6500, thus, the increase is about 410 RPMs for each speed. The backplate employs a hook and loop system for attaching buffing pads. This is standard for most buffers. The backplate is replaceable. I used this to remove a few paint transfer spots on my truck. It performed nicely with some 2500 polishing compound. This is an average forced rotation dual action buffer, similar to dozens of others in its class. If you're a DIY who occasionally polishes your vehicle or other painted surfaces, this tool will get the job done. If you're going to be using this for extended periods of time, I would suggest a tool that is more ergonomic. ... show more
