Description

The M12 FUEL™ 1/4 in. Hex impact driver once again raises the bar for 12 V performance with best in class driving speed, power, and size. By focusing on productivity, this impact driver gets the job done faster by being over 20% faster in application speed vs. the competition. This tool outputs over 1,300 in-lbs of torque that allows the user to get more work done by completing a wide range of fastening. Measuring only 5.1 in. in length allows for unmatched access in tight spaces. The POWERSTATE brushless motor delivers up to 0-3, 300 RPM with constant power output to drive screws faster. REDLINK PLUS intelligence is the most advanced electronic system on the market, preventing damage to the tool and battery caused by overloading or overheating. For use with M12 REDLITHIUM compact batteries or extended capacity batteries (sold separately), which deliver more work per charge and more work over the life of the pack than competitive batteries on the market. The 4-mode drive control provides greater control over output speed and power for greater versatility by delivering 0-1, 300 RPM in mode 1, 0-2, 400 RPM in mode 2 and 0-3, 300 RPM in mode 3. Mode 4 is self-tapping screw mode which is designed to reduce walking when starting self-tapping screws as well as reduce overdriving, breaking and stripping out screws.

  • Awesome impact! Great size to power ratio!
Really liking this impact so far. I'm an HVAC tech and work on mostly commercial equipment. This impacts size to power ratio is excellent! I can throw it in my tool bag and have it with me all the time. I was unable to fit the M18 inside my bag and would regularly leave it in my truck to minimize weight in my bag. It has just about the same power as my older M18, the battery last long (using the M12 2.0) and overall it feels like a quality tool. The 4 modes are awesome! A lot of the time I find myself leaving it on 2 because 3 has so much power but it's nice to have the extra torque when you need it. Can't speak to durability since I just got it but it feels pretty tough. If your looking for a smaller lighter impact this is a total win! Update 11/1/19: Impact is still going strong, I've dropped and abused the thing and it just keeps trucking along. Best impact I've owned. Period Update 2/26/21: This thing just won't quit! It has been banged up, dropped, in the rain and it still works just as good as the day I got it ... show more

  • As good as 18v
Excellent tool. Lightweight, compact, and extremely powerful. Can keep up with with my 20v dewalt impact, no problem. The grip is a bit on the large size, so you might want to try one out before buying. If you have small hands it may feel awkward to you. The battery life is excellent, even with the most compact battery. I found it to be well-balanced and feels natural to use. Like I said - feels every bit as strong (and fast) as any 18/20v impact I've tried. Switchable speeds is a nice bonus too. Only gripes: wish it had more of a "ring style" or multiple LEDs. The single LED is just okay. As mentioned, the grip might be weird for you if you have small hands. The belt clip is kind of "sharp", if that makes sense. Ultimately, I ended up getting rid of mine as I'm already pretty deep into the Dewalt 20v system and just wanted to stick with one type of battery, but I would highly recommend it to anyone. If money allows I'd like to pick another up someday. ... show more

  • Pounds fasteners in without mercy
Thump power, perfect for size of fasteners it's designed for. I use T20 for all the woodwork I do now as Philips #2 has let me down in all aspects except for stainless steel. I have used this for 4 days now changing out doors throughout the house. It is unrelenting and punishes anything you put in front of it. It has 3 speeds to allow for more finesse when screwing things in. I prefer number 2 but the variable speed trigger despite a good sweep, I find myself in hight rpm quickly....... more my issue I think. To bottom out and hit hammer drive hehehehe. Love it. This tool rocks and I bet it would drag a drywall screw through a 4x4 as long as the threads bite wood. Battery life was good for me. I could see an m18 for deck work, I plug in for that stuff and the size is a factor. ... show more

  • Impressive performance
I use this tool for work and so far I’ve been extremely impressed with the performance. Most of the work involves using self tapping screws for fastening to metal surfaces so having the right tool for the job makes the task much less tiring and time consuming. I bought the 2453 before this and while it’s great, it would struggle with difficult tasks like driving a self tapper into thicker metal or a 5” deck screw into wood. This thing is in another league than the 2453 power-wise and it’s kicked ass on everything I’ve thrown at it so far. The self tapping screw setting is great for getting it started but it will usually not have enough torque to completely drive it in so my procedure is to get it about half way, then switch to “3” which has more than enough power. I use it with the XC 4.0 battery so I’m not sure how much that boosts performance but like I’ve said it’s handled everything from self-tappers to deck screws, 9/16 bolts, and even drilling into solid concrete with a carbide drill bit (which got it pretty hot but it never stopped or slowed down). My team uses Milwaukee, DeWalt, Ryobi and Rigid tools and we’ve all been impressed by this little guy. It’s every bit as powerful as our older 18v Milwaukee (non-brushless) driver which is pretty neat. Despite being small this is a pretty hefty little tool which might be the only downside. Sure it’s light and compact but the DeWalt is definitely lighter. Still it’s no big deal considering the additional power and the ergonomics are really nice with the prominent palm swell on the grip. This is for the tool only, no fancy box or accessories. Normally this is sold in a set so finding one by itself at your local Home Depot probably isn’t going to happen. Besides the price is fair and mine arrived in perfect condition. ... show more

  • Great tool at a even better price 👍👍👍👍
Milwaukee is my go to for cordless tools. I have 2 of these and the weight , short length for tight areas is one of the best features. This tool is used the majority of my work day for removing AC unit panels and driving sheet metal screws. A++++

  • Unbelievable Story
This would be hard for someone to believe unless it actually happened to them. I ordered a Milwaukee MLW2553-20 power driver that I thought was the latest and greatest available. What I received was the MLW3453-20 which is an upgrade to the tool I ordered. It is actually better than the tool I ordered. Here's the kicker. The tool I received sells for $20 less than the one I ordered. No problem. Amazon refunded me the difference in price. The impact driver works great with a M12 6AH battery I bought separately. It has a four step control that allows rpms up to 3600 and a torque of 1500 in-lbs. It is proving to be another one of those excellent purchases that always works perfectly from the start. So now I can say good bye to the time wasting chuck on my old B&D drill motor, and yes my new Milwaukee is very lightweight and I can switch bits in seconds. My new impact driver is working perfectly. So actually, this is a review for the MLW3453-20 and not the MLW2553-20. I hope this all makes sense. I'm still trying to figure out how this good fortune worked out so well for me. Thank you, Amazon! To those who believe the rumors that purchasing Milwaukee Tool products from Amazon is risky, don't worry because they have you covered by offering their own insurance services whenever you make a tool purchase. ... show more

  • ok, but think about what you will use it for!
ok so i bought this to replace my snap on 14v 3/8 impact, now this impact is claimed to have some real power but although its a good tool it really lacks power. First use I tried removing fenders on a chevy malibu as im an autobody tech and it would not remove the simple 10mm bolts with ease.. look into something bigger m18 or similar if you need more power its a good tool tho however for interior work. im pleased, its a good tool.. just dont consider it for heavy duty. ... show more

  • Great impact that fits in your tool pouch.
I purchased this unit as a smaller lighter more maneuverable unit to supplement my bigger 18v and 20v units. When it arrived I was very impressed to find that yes this unit is small, light (fits in electricians belt pouch), and yet almost as powerful as my 20v DeWalt. It does a great job of sinking 3 inch deck screws, self drillers in sheet metal, impact use for assembly/disassembly. This unit has great torque and excellent battery life, would it be my first choice if I'm shooting 3½inch screws in a deck all day long? Not necessarily, but it could do the job, you would be changing batteries frequently, but I'm sure it would hold it's own. A couple small things I don't like as much, only 1 single LED for the work light built in, the LED is quite bright, but there is only one and it can be blocked in small spaces, I looked the ring of 3 LEDs on some competing units better. Also the handle shape too some getting used to, I'm sure there's size and shape is dictated by battery placement and size, I did get used to it but I still wish it was a little less cumbersome through the handle. Torque is easy to adjust with a couple of button presses you have great control over how hard this hits so you can confidently sink wood screws in 2x4's or seat self drilling screws with out overtightening. ... show more
