The product is easy to use From the Manufacturer Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation introduces Ice Hardened hole saws, a new generation of hole saws that offer up to 50% longer life than the competition and are ideal for metal and wood cutting in a wide variety of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and maintenance/repair applications. Milwaukee Ice Hardened products utilize a proprietary cryogenic hardening process that improves upon traditional heat treat processes. Unlike surface coatings that wear away, cryogenics harden to the core by minimizing soft metal (austenite) and creating more hard metal (martensite). The result is a product that is more consistently hard throughout, resulting in life up to 50% longer than the competition. Milwaukee Ice Hardened hole saws also feature Matrix II bi-metal construction for greater durability and a unique precision-ground tooth geometry for faster cutting. A positive rake angle cuts more aggressively while deeper gullets quickly remove chips. A radiused back face reduces stress on the teeth, ensuring that the blade delivers optimum life and speed. Functional slot geometry allows for a standard slotted screwdriver to fit completely underneath the plug for easier plug removal. A good hole saw kit is something I never thought too much about until I would need to drill a hole larger than a ½". At such point I would be frustrated that I didn't have the correct size hole saw in my workshop for the job. I would have to run out to a big box home store or Sears and would buy one hole saw for the exact size I needed. Well over the years I have accumulated a few hole saws of various brands/quality and never felt that I had what I needed. Cut quality was always suspect at best with my makeshift assortment of hole saws. At least that was the before I found this kit on Amazon. This kit is extremely high quality and has many, many sizes for most tasks a handy homeowner/craftsman will run into. I have drilled several holes of various sizes with this kit and have been extremely pleased with the results. The case design is well thought out and keeps my workshop organized. Very happy with the purchase. Not only would I buy this again, but I will buy this as a gift for my family members/friends that can get use out of it but would never think to buy for themselves. ... show more

    • V useful set. A few things to note.
These things rock but I had quite a time getting going. I needed to cut 4" holes in 1 3/4 inch depth of ply. A couple of notes 1) you can't tell from the pic but the bits are not 1/4 hex, they are 9/16 or some odd size..... good luck finding an adaptor to get these working with a regular 1/4 hex driver. First I tried a hex nut to make the connection but it was too wobbly. The Dewalt chuck adaptor for the 1/4 hex didn't work either (too small and it sucks) and there doesn't appear to be an adaptor for s4s max either....... hmmm, surely something I have out there will run these things...... finally I pulled out an old dewalt drill that had a big enough chuck to hold the bits and I was off to the races. 2) Do the chuck up tight! 3) Make sure you are holding the damn drill with both hands, nice and strong, things can get wild with the bigger hole cutters and they can lock up really suddenly if you shove too hard or drop sideways, giving the drill and your arm a good twist. I found that the drills cut a nice clean circle in laminate without chewing the edges, which was pleasing. Overall great tool. ... show more

As many of the reviewers have already stated the product pictured in the listing is of the older set with a different case. The case you receive now is garbage, I bought this set knowing this. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the peg system panel in the bottom is removable along with the container for the loose drill bits. I have already bought into the Milwaukee PACKOUT storage system, so I bought the ”PACKOUT 5-Compartments Small Parts Organizer” for my set. I used some Polyethylene (PE) foam that I laying around to keep the hole saws organized and I recycled the “Container” that came with this set to store the loose drill bits. I am very happy with the way it came out! Milwaukee sells a “ready to go” PACKOUT Hole Saw Set, however the set only comes with 6 hole saws. It took some effort, but now I have 22 hole saws in the same storage foot print. At the end of the day thanks to Amazon’s pricing, in total I still have paid less than MSRP for this “28-Piece” set including the extra PACKOUT storage box. ... show more

    • Beware of Rogue Re-sellers
I received this hole saw kit today, 7 February 2025. I purchased it on 2 February. Normally, when purchasing products like this, I will click into the manufacturer's web site directly and try to make the purchase there rather than through Amazon. I tried this with Milwaukee, but their web site does not have the functionality to make purchases. You must locate a re-seller. I opted instead to complete the purchase through Amazon. As it turned out, the product was not sold by Amazon but through a third party called KTS Unlimited. The price quoted on the Amazon product page today, 7 February, is $158. I thought that was what I was going to pay, but the KTS Unlimited invoice today is for $179. Also, the product is used, not new as advertised. The case is filled with sawdust and some of the plastic components are damaged. I called Milwaukee customer support and actually got to talk to a human being. Right off, he stopped me when I mentioned Amazon and warned me to not make Milwaukee product purchases through Amazon. He counseled me to go to the Milwaukee web site and from there locate a certified re-seller. KTS Unlimited is not a Milwaukee certified re-seller and when I described the deplorable state of the case, he said I should not have made my purchase through any re-seller but one certified by Milwaukee. So, I was out of luck. To be sure, all the hole saws are there, and they look new, but the case is definitely a hand-me-down. Also, the extra $20 has me feeling like a dupe. It is a murky business to purchase products from Amazon from manufacturers who do not want their products purchased there. I do not know what the deal is with third party re-sellers like KTS Unlimited and Amazon and manufacturers like Milwaukee, but the swamp gets too deep for me to penetrate when trying to get customer service and I give up. Anyone wanting to purchase anything from Milwaukee should, according to the stern warning from Milwaukee customer support, go directly to Milwaukee and from there search for a certified re-seller. Sometimes, getting what you think you paid for at the price you thought you paid for it can be tricky business at Amazon. Just a word to the wise, of which I was not one. These are very good drill bits. You get a lot of them for well under $100. I'll never need all of them, but it's nice to know that all of them are there. The case is junk. The design is junk and the manufacture is junk. If the pins had bases to hold them upright it would work better. The two pins that are there to hold the accessory container closed are too long, so it'll never close properly until you shave 1/16" of off them. If I was using these bits on a daily basis I'd work something else out but I won't bother. I'll be using them a couple times a month. Good price for so many bits. My old much smaller set has lasted 20 years. ... show more
