I'm not typically a "crunchy" mom but when it comes to a mattress for our daughter, I was very picky. I did several months of research and going back/forth between different mattress options. I was nervous about "foam" safety for infants but especially polyurethane foam. But I could tell that my daughter wasn't getting great quality of sleep on her spring mattress, and outright refused to ever nap in her crib. The picture I've included is of her napping in her crib, happily. Before, she would always sleep curled up in a ball on her knees. She'd never stretch out, never sleep on her back. With the spring mattress you could physically see her whole body sink into the mattress. She's a hefty girl, 99th percentile in everything. 11months old wearing 18mo clothing and weights 25 lbs. This milliard foam mattress does not sink, at all. She's even sleeping on the toddler side and it doesn't budge an inch. It's firm but comfortable, definitely safe for infants as well (wish we had gotten it from the start!) She sleeps stretched out more often, takes naps in her crib, and generally wakes up a lot happier. It's safe to say that she loves it! The reason I chose this mattress is because it has the certi-pur US seal which means it puts out VERY low measurable VOC's (during and after the 72 hour air out period) and they are very open about their measurements/requirements. The EPA also recommends looking for that seal when buying a Polyurethane foam mattress/product. I also chose this because the cover on the mattress is NOT fiber glass. That being said, this is well worth the purchase and I highly recommend it to everyone. We have a 2nd mattress cover on top that's also water resistant and there's no noise that we can tell when baby rolls around. This mattress also fits the crib perfectly! No gaps whatsoever which is also a step up from the old spring mattress. We're just happy we finally found a great option, and that the baby loves it as well! ... show more

I was worried about purchasing this mattress for my 8 month old baby. We needed to replace the old mattress that had been through two older siblings and I didn’t want to buy another mattress with springs. My husband and I have a memory foam mattress so I searched for memory foam crib mattress and choose this based on the reviews. I was a little worried because I am by the book when it comes to baby safety: rear facing, buckled correctly, back to sleep, nothing in the crib so I wasn’t sure if this mattress was considered safe or not. I did some research and couldn’t find anything to say that a memory foam mattress is any less safe than a traditional infant mattress. Our baby seems to have loved it from the time we put him in his crib. It has a nice firm feel it doesn’t sag or have much give when they lay in it. It’s standard size so it fits like the previous mattress with a compatible depth to the mattress. I can’t really speak on it being comfortable because I don’t sleep on it but it feels nice when I press on it and the baby seems to love it. We’ve had it about six months now i keep a water proof mattress pad protector under the sheets and haven’t had any issues with durability. The cover that comes over the memory foam is very soft. We’re still using the firm side but according to the instructions it can be flipped to the softer side once the baby reaches a certain age. Well prob just keep it on the form side. It came air sealed in a bag. We didn’t have any issues with opening it. I laid it in the room for a couple of days to allow it to fluff up. We bought this for our 4 yr old (still using a standard sized toddler bed) as we were going to move her mattress back to the crib for her new baby brother. I was intentionally looking for a softer mattress, as the crib mattress we were using was for infants and (intentionally) very firm. It’s great - very comfortable, much softer, good quality memory foam. It lay flat and regained its shape almost instantly. No smell at all. Perfect for our purposes, and very pleased w the purchase. This gets 4 stars instead of 5 because it was not obvious to me which side was the infant side (more firm) versus the toddler side (softer). They weren’t marked in any way, and both sides were noticeably softer than the infant mattress we were replacing. If I had purchased for use with an infant, I would not feel safe/comfortable guessing. The mattress is also not waterproof. The cover is advertised as being waterproof, but it’s clearly just on one side, if at all, and not all the way around. Takeaway - great for an older baby, toddler, or young kid. Especially one who is potty trained, doesn’t have nighttime accidents, or if you have a fully waterproof cover. I would not purchase for an infant or if I was concerned about accidents. Easier just to get one of those fully waterproof, dedicated infant mattresses (which still work perfectly well for toddlers). ... show more
