I bought it as a standalone bed for when we were visiting family over the holidays. My dog is old and was having trouble finding comfortable places to sleep so I bought this one simply because 1) it was reasonably priced and (more importantly) 2) it would arrive sooner than other beds I looked at. The bed did fine for the trip. There was nothing remarkably good or bad about it. However, the real revelation came when we returned home. My dog already had comfy beds in most of the rooms she'd spend time in. So on a whim I put it inside her crate. The dimensions fit perfectly so why not? Up until that point my dog didn't like her crate. She would go into it if asked to, but she rarely went into it on her own and didn't stay in it long. It has one of those lambskin-like dog beds inside but that wasn't much of an enticement for her. But now with this memory foam mattress underneath the lambskin-like dog bed? What a difference! She goes into her crate at least twice a day now to nap. She's probably gone into her crate more times in the last week than she has in the last five years and the only thing that's changed is this comfy foam mattress adding extra padding. So I'm very pleased with this bed. If I had one complaint, it's the packaging. The bed was compressed and wrapped tightly in plastic. In the process of cutting it out of the plastic I made a small cut in the bed material itself. The cut isn't noticeable and doesn't affect the functionality of the bed, but it was still annoying. It was not annoying enough to remove any stars though. Just be careful when opening it and less klutzy than me.

I bought this for my growing Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever puppy last year. He was about 25 pounds at the time and is 40 pounds now full grown. We use it in a crate every day, but he no longer sleeps there at night. He likes it very much and seems comfortable over longer durations. My dog does get treats in his crate and he has vomited on the pad a few times. It washed out with no stains or odor. The cover has been washed several times. It is easy to take off, machine wash, line dry, and put back on. The foam is still solid with no noticeable depressions worn into it. He is not a digger or one to carry on in the crate, so I can't comment on the durability for a dog that may chew and scratch at it. These plush tops are not really good for dogs that tend to scratch and dig. So since this was about half the local price, and has held up really well, I would highly recommend it.

We bought this bed to try because my dog recently started destroying the stuffed beds. I thought, well maybe because it's foam it won't be as enticing. I was wrong. It lasted less then 13 hours. If you have a bed destroyer, it's not so good. If you have a docile dog that doesn't leave a path of destruction, it's great. My small dogs would have loved it if they were given a chance.

I have had two of these beds since the end of September. My dogs are 51 and 39 lbs. the beds hold shape and don’t flatten when the dogs are on them. I love that the covers are washable. However, they are not waterproof. One of my dogs is on steroids and peed his bed. Imagine my surprise when I removed the cover and the length of the bed on one side was stained yellow & smelled of urine. I’m very disappointed. Now I have to find a laundromat that can accommodate a bed this size and wash the actual bed. I’m thinking of putting some sort of plastic on the bed itself once it’s been cleaned.

If you're looking for a soft bed, this ain't it but it's a super simple dog mattress that works for the time being. My dog is older so she needed a sturdier bed and I'm glad I settled on this bc she hasnt had any issues getting on or off of it. I got the 27 x 33 size. She weighs 65 lbs and fits comfortably on it.

So, the review asked me to rate "easy to clean" as well as "softness" so I exited out of them and just did a review on the overall product. I haven't washed it yet but I do not anticipate it being easy to clean, because the top of it is like a shag carpet material. I'm not crazy about that but it is what it is. Also, regarding softness, it's not lol. I mean it's an ORTHOpedic bed, which is not supposed to be super soft. It's a material similar to the "egg crate" bed toppers for us humans, and it's not memory foam so no it's not soft, but it's not rock hard either, it's somewhere in the middle. We purchased this because he's not a pup anymore and we don't want old boy sinking to the floor in pits of worn out stuffing, which has happened to pretty much every other bed we've purchased. This has held his weight and then some. Also, I love that the under side of it is made out of a non-slip backing so he can't move it to the middle of the living room. Not sure he's too happy about that but we are :)

Soft and it fits the crate. I have not had to clean it yet so I can't comment on if it's easy to clean or not. My dog doesn't chew his bed so I can't comment on "chew proof".

My dog loves this bed and it fits in his crate! It’s very easy to clean and extremely comfortable for him! The only problem I have is that the white sheet that protects the inside of the bed came ripped on the side. Other than that it’s a great product!
