  • A durable if dirty and steady puddle
Material Type: Purple - Rare Earth Blend Size: 1/16"
Very good tungsten. I just started to use my last tungsten out of the 10 it came with. I have had this pack for over 3 months and have welded 15 pounds of .032 filler rod with these tungsten. They are the best I came across for 304 and 347 stainless. The best is how it gets dirty. When you dip this rod or have a dirty spatter it gets pulled away from the tip, allowing you to continue/finish your weld. I can testify that I can have a steady arc down to 2amps. I mostly weld 20gauge and 16gauge and also 1/4in thick flanges. I highly recommend this ... show more

  • Powerful Electrodes, WIDE AMPERAGE, Arcs EXTREMELY HOT 🔥; works even without gas
Material Type: Purple - Rare Earth Blend Size: 3/32"
Wow! Blown away by this product. First time ever using tungsten electrodes. I used it to aid in melting alumina with chromia to make rubies, and they work great for it! It's easy to sustain an arc of extreme temperature without the electrode melting away. I used it without gas, and it works fabulously. Just make sure that you appropriately sharpen the tip, I preferred the truncated tip for max surface area for high amperage. It truly lasts a long time, but, because I use without gas, the tip kind of needs to be shaped back to preference frequently. Not a problem. I was able to sharpen with an alumina coated sandpaper, it worked well. Just drag the tip parallel to the grain, and only in one direction (i.e. only pulling against the sandpaper). Just beware that dipping the tip into your melt will basically eat it up, and your electrode will obviously get shorter. I always use this on the negative lead on my DC arc welder, because it lasts longer. On the positive lead I connect a long carbon gouging rod, and tadah, a super hot arc furnace is mine, wherever I please! 😊 👍🏽 🙂 Great job MTS, I will eagerly try out your other tungsten flavors! ... show more

  • Better than the OLD stuff
Material Type: Purple - Rare Earth Blend Size: 1/8"
I've used these very little so far, just with some ancient torch parts, waiting for some more modern gas lens's and cups to go with them. Anyway, using this tungsten ,1/8" , to weld 1/8" sheet aluminum (marine grade) to heavier channel and angle, both 6000 grade. With a proper ground sharp point, arc control was fairly easy and I will admit to being a bit rusty from lack of practice. Now, only reason for not giving 5 stars has been mentioned before. For my colletts, the color coded end will not pass through. Small inconvenience but still that.I'll update later if needed. Happy welding and don't dip your tungsten! ... show more

  • This company has always provided a quality product.
Material Type: Purple - Rare Earth Blend Size: 1/16"
These tungstens do what they are supposed to do. I appreciate the quality. I have very specific needs and deal with some exotic applications albeit in a very limited amount. I’m retired but enjoy the challenge of doing something that no one else wants to try and that requires high quality equipment and supplies. These electrodes consistantly perform as specified. ... show more

  • Great tungsten for aluminum or steel, and affordable!
Material Type: Purple - Rare Earth Blend Size: 3/32"
I'm an intermediate professional and hobby welder(almost exclusively TIG on mild steel and SS, with a little stick welding mild too). Ive welded using school, and then employer-owned equipment for 15 years. I just bought my first TIG machine, a 225 amp AC/DC primeweld and I wanted some tungsten that can weld aluminum and steel. These weld steel every bit as well as the thoriated or ceriated rods we use at work. But as someone who has never welded aluminum before yesterday, I can also confirm the rods will weld aluminum (on A/C of course) pretty well, which is a sweet bonus. Overall very satisfied for the price. ... show more
