  • The microscope I wished I had when I was a kid!
Color: White
When I was a kid I really wanted a microscope. Of course 40 years ago digital microscopes were out of the reach of ordinary people, if they even existed at all. I ended up getting a kid's microscope with some slides of things like a mosquito head and flower petal. This digital microscope is the modern equivalent, only so much easier to use, doesn't require backlighting, and is much more portable. And of course, you can easily capture photos and video of your microscopic subjects! This microscope comes with the scope itself, a USB-A to C charging cable (in case you somehow don't already have 10 of them laying around). It also comes with 6 slides of various interesting things. Mine came with the slide you see in the photo. It also comes with a 32GB micro SD card preinstalled, for storing photos and videos, but no SD Card adapter, so if you want to get them off the camera, you'll either need one, or you can connect to a computer and download them using the USB cable. The interface is pretty easy to navigate. There are two button for changing the zoom level (up and down), a menu button, and a button to cycle through the 6 levels of LED lighting. There is also an OK button that will take pictures or video depending on the mode, and a power button. The large white wheel on the side is the manual focus, which you will have to use to focus on the object. I don't like that there isn't a dedicated button switch from photo to video. To do that you have to go into setting and select the one you want. The zoom itself is digital zoom, so at higher zoom some resolution will be lost, but the photos will always be saved at the resolution you select in setup (which goes as high as 5MP), so some interpolation is being done. The photos I saved at 1000x were not that great, but viewing on the microscope you cannot tell. I recommend that you go into the settings and set the following things: change the resolution for the microscope from HD to FHD (the default is HD), set the image quality to the one you want (it defaults to 2MP), and set the date. You can choose to have the date/time set with your photos. You can also choose to turn on audio capture for the video setting if you want to narrate. I think the default 2MP photo resolution is probably the best because at FHD, you get 1920x1080, which is a 2MP image. Higher resolution will result in interpolation, which doesn't make the image better, just takes up more space. It is apparently possible to use this like a webcam, by powering on the microscope and then plugging into a computer. You'll get a selection where you can choose "Memory" or "PC Camera". Under Ubuntu Linux, I wasn't able to get this feature working though. GUVCView doesn't recognize the camera, and under Cheese Webcam booth, it show up as "AUDIO" and the image is corrupted. I'm actually reluctant to hand this over to my 10 year old, although I know he will enjoy it! I spent some time looking at various things, for example, you can place it on a computer monitor or TV and see the three rgb leds that make up each pixel. It's a great way to explain how monitors work. This is where it is so much better than the old fashioned microscopes of old. You can basically put it on anything and zoom in from 100 to 1000x magnification (at 100x intervals). I took a picture of a honey roasted peanut at 400x, in case anyone wanted to know what that looked like. Highly recommended as a great educational toy for any kid who is interested in the world around them! ... show more

  • Spark Your Child's Curiosity with the WINWEND Portable Microscope!
Color: White
Looking for a way to ignite your child's love for science and exploration? Look no further than the WINWEND Portable Microscope! My 8-year-old son is absolutely obsessed with his, and here's why you should consider it for your little scientist: Pros: Kid-friendly design: It's lightweight, compact, and fits perfectly in small hands. My son can easily carry it around and use it independently. Easy to use: No complicated setup required! It comes with a 32GB SD card so you can start exploring right away. Plus, the simple controls and large buttons are perfect for young children. Engaging features: The 6 adjustable brightness levels and 2" LCD screen make viewing magnified objects clear and fun. Ready-to-explore: Sample slides are included, allowing kids to jump right into the microscopic world without needing additional preparation. Durable build: It seems well-made and can withstand the occasional bump or drop, which is essential for active kids. Areas for improvement: Magnification: While advertised as 1000x, the difference between levels, especially at higher magnifications, wasn't very noticeable. However, this didn't seem to affect my son's enjoyment. Limited educational materials: Some additional resources or guides specifically geared towards kids could enhance the learning experience. Overall: Despite the minor points mentioned above, the WINWEND Portable Microscope is a fantastic gift that sparked my son's curiosity and opened up a whole new world of exploration. It's easy to use, engaging, and well-made, making it a great choice for budding young scientists! ... show more

  • Kid friendly microscope/recorder with 100 to 100X magnification
Color: White
Kids love this little microscope. It is easy to use, and magnifies from 100x to 1000x and can take pictures and videos and store on the included SD card. It has built in lighting with 6 levels of brightness, it has live view on the LCD screen. You can review pictures and videos as well by going into playback mode. The different modes available are Photo, Video, Playback and a settings change mode. You may want to set the image image quality from the default 2M to 4M or 5M. Kids can also use it as a telescope as well to take pictures of things far away and use the zoom button to bring images closer. This is an instant hit with my younger elementary aged kid who is using it to view everything and anything that can be magnified. I don’t expect to get it back until bedtime when it will need to be charged. Great gift as well for a student whether or not they are into the sciences ... show more

  • Encourage your kids to explore!
Color: White
We ordered this for our 6 y.o. granddaughter. She recently got to play with a similar scope at a science center and really enjoyed it. We think she and her little brother will enjoy using this to explore things around the house and in their back yard. It is super easy to use. It looks and acts a lot like a camcorder. The size of the scope is perfect for kids hands and it comes with a velcro strap to make it easier to hold. The screen is a good size and is bright with a good display. The LED lights are very helpful to examine things up close. My husband has really enjoyed playing with it too - so good for all ages? The price point is great too. ... show more

  • For your science buff kid
Color: White
Got this for my 7-year old who got to liking science especially looking at microscopic items after we took him to a science museum. Now, don't expect this to work as nice as a real lab-certified microscope, as I do not consider it as such. I consider it more like a high-end toy microscope that do magnify objects. What's nice is you do not need to try to squint your eye to look into a small viewfinder instead, this is more like a camcorder from 5 years ago, so it has an LCD screen and you look at the specimen from the screen. Very easy to use and great for kids. My son is so happy and has been using it to look at a lot of things, from bugs he caught in the backyard, to leaves and everything he can lay his hands on. ... show more
