Graters (excluding Master Series) are dishwasher safe. However, to ensure that the blades stay sharp as long as possible, we recommend washing them by hand. I never owned a peeler with a serrated blade but a new recipe called for one. I purchased one at a retail store for immediate use and ordered this one. The K-Aid peeler from the store was very good. The Microplane is exceptional. I would encourage making a purchase should your need require a serrated peeler. It worked wonders on lemons. The peeling of carrots is amazing. It comes with a nice blade guard when in the drawer. I have used it often for a month now as it is my go to peeler. Cleaning is easy by spraying at the sink or in the dishwasher. Went to a cooking class recently and my favorite instructor suggested this as a useful tool. This is a great tool. Works perfectly on mangoes, peaches tomatoes, etc., taking only the skin. I am now the Gordon Ramsay of soft-skinned produce. I used to fear tomatoes. I’d approach them with a standard peeler and end up with a crime scene of squished pulp and broken dreams. I didn't think I would be this excited about a kitchen gadget but this thing is life-changing. It speeds up the task of peeling so much and its really sharp! Like take off the tip of your finger sharp, so watch out. I love the handle and weight of it. Very impressive!
