It's stable holding a tablet

I modified this stand to attach to my desk. I have a rode podmic XLR but it was too heavy (with my extension Poles) for the pivot to hold. So what I did was unscrew the pivot knob, take out the bottom pole and rubber pads, then used pliers to squish the metal prongs together to make it tighter. Then I re installed it. It did make it much tighter but still not tight enough for my use case. You can also use a counter weight which will help. But what I had to do was drill a hole all the way through the pivot plates and put a pin in it to keep it from sagging. You could also drill multiple holes for multiple different positions. My main complaint is the small diameter extension pole on the T pivot. It's much too weak and will bend easily for anything over 2lbs. I really like the all metal base, though the legs are not stable for full extension. You will need to weight it down. Overall I for the price of $25 I would recommend it, especially if you plan to modify it like I did. There are many of these stands on Amazon and they are mostly all the same from the same manufacturer but with minor differences. Most have a plastic or thin metal base but this one has a cast aluminum alloy base. Also it has knobs instead of Clamp things to tight the Poles which I prefer.

Everything you would expect. The quality is way more than you would think you would get for the price. I use this to hold an expensive large diaphram mic for recording at my desktop. Not professional grade, but equal value to the price.Might by another one so I don't have to transport to my winter studio!

Use this for band practice and live performances, no problem so far, but only use it for holding and Ipad, was too wobbly with both when standing, probably would work well if sitting.

This is a good mic stand. The build could have been stronger, but I love the horizontal mic boom a lot. Just don't tighten it too hard. I recommend it if you are leaving it in your home studio & not needing to take it on location. Kind regards.
