  • Don't wait get it now
I have had inconsistent prints for 2 years. I always thought it my tramming was off, the filament was to wet, or my z offset was wrong. I have learned a lot about 3d printing and the fine adjustments one can make to compensate for these issues. I usually get decent prints after a few adjustments. My first layers have always been a bit sheet. Recently, I was having some serious dot dash stripping in my first layer after a filament snag failed a 1.5 day print. I spent a week troubleshooting the issue. I was so frustrated, because all the tricks I had learn to resolve first layer issues were not working. I had one print finally finish and it was a sponge. I crushed it with little effort. I finally took a close look at the stock brass (soft metal) filament feeder gears and noticed a rounding / bending of the teeth. First off, I didn't know the the filament feeder gear was brass, or I would have figured it out sooner. I picked up this bad boy for my birthday, and on my first print, I had the first layer put down so beautifully and so smooth I almost cried. The product is well made and easily put together. TIP: if you use a filament sensor and you print out the adjustment bracket provided by Micro Swiss, you will need to trim the tubing. I think the attached tubing is Capracorn PFTE. It is oil slick smooth. I think will order some as my next upgrade to replace the stock one I have. Micro Swiss has the quality you have been missing. This product will make your prints better. ... show more

  • Solid improvement for moving filament
I have installed the Micro Swiss dual-gear Bowden extruded on two printers - a Creality CR-10S and my Frankenstein i3 clone. This extruder is a dramatic improvement for both. I recently started printing with some matte-finish /particle-supplemented types of PLA. The standard single gear with passive roller was having a hard time feeding these filaments because they are a bit harder than regular PLA, making it difficult for the standard extruder to grip and feed. Increasing the power to the extruder stepper motor helped a bit. But these filaments really benefit from a dual gear system that maintains a positive grip on the filament, not only because the filament is harder to “bite”, but also because the particles contained inside are more difficult to pass through the standard 0.4mm nozzle opening. The upgrade to the Micro Swiss dual gear extruder solved the problem. It’s very well engineered and manufactured in the USA, very easy to install, and is a great all-around extruder for use with standard and particle-enhanced filaments. FYI - I found a ballpark steps/mm setting of 140 was optimal for both extruders on my machines. That said, this is a great product and money well spent. ... show more

  • Works better than original extruder..
I'd been having extruder problems on my Anycubic Mega X, and decided to give this a try. I thought it was a bit price, but not nearly as bad as the $100 Bondtech that many recommend. It was relatively easy to install, and after following some online instructions for reprogramming the steps per mm value (which came darn close to the 130 steps/mm suggested in the Micro-swiss instructions), I had things printing again. I've only done a print and a half so far, but all looks good. Should that change I'll update my review. ... show more

  • Works almost as expected
I have an Anycubic Mega Pro. This extruder replaced the original that failed on me. I have fixed the step length in the code, but the extruder will sometimes skip or slip. Not sure if it's a motor problem or extruder issue, but this is a solid replacement for the existing. Some may say it's an upgrade. Jury is still out for me, but for what I needed, this is ok. ... show more

  • Works on Anycubic Chiron
The media could not be loaded. I’m using this on my Anycubic Chiron to help feed carbon fiber filament when my original extruder started to skip, works very well and very impressed with the results! Easy instructions with detailed pictures and steps on their website and has a recommended extruder E/steps on their website that worked perfect for my Chiron. I removed the filament sensor as it does not exactly line up 100% but I was tired of the cheap filament sensor. I really like the small Teflon tube at the entrance of the extruder that allows me to use a Teflon tube from my dry box up to the extruder. Well worth the money and 100% would recommend. For anybody with a Chiron, please get rid of the cheap LCD display control box, TH3D shop has an upgrade kit that has saved me time allowing for adjustments to E steps and Z steps with out hooking up a laptop. ... show more

  • Easy upgrade for almost any printer
I got this to replace the stock extruder on my Anycubic Mega S after it accidentally ejected one of its filament guide pieces and started having consistency issues. Almost didn't end up installing it as I found the missing piece and was able to repair it the day before it arrived - but I'm so glad I did. This extruder design address all the major issues I had with the original extruder. It's easier to adjust the tension, it handles a much wider range of filament types (even with a Bowden tube,) and it's built like a tank compared to the original which relied on a lot of plastic gears to work. It only took me about half an hour to get it swapped out, another ten minutes or so to adjust the e-steps to match the new gearing, and I was ready to go! There are a few things you should probably be aware of if you want to use this on a Mega-S in particular. Biggest one is that the tension release is probably going to end up in a slightly awkward place, pointing towards the gantry frame rather than away from it if you put it in the same place as the original. It's not a huge issue for me, but perhaps could have been avoided either with a modified printed bracket or just by moving the motor onto the outside. Second is that the pressure it can apply will end up very different due to the updated gear ratios. I had to up temperatures and decrease speeds slightly to stop it from pushing too hard and skipping with my smaller nozzles. But frankly the improved consistency and the ease at which it handles slick, soft, and flexible filaments is more than worth it. And if that's not enough, you also never have to worry about breaking another pneumatic fitting! Just pair it with some high quality Capricorn PTFE and watch your prints get taken to a new level. ... show more
