I already own a fancy, electronic 205 stitch machine as well as a commercial heavy duty, sew leather, canvas, heavy denim type machine. But his little handheld is a GEM! I also owned a single thread, hand held sewing machine. That was a big mistake considering the price of this Sew Simple handheld sewing machine. You will have far less grief, not having to try to tie a knot as you end your stitches; as will be needed with any single thread, handheld sewing machine This a two thread, LOCKSTITCH (with a bottom bobbin). And, this come with a power supply to plug in, which is a very nice feature. But, you can use batteries if you want to. This has a very well engineered, removable battery pack! ( batteries are not included--but remember, the power supply is! ) I highly recommend this machine to anyone who wants a very portable, lightweight, fully functioning, two thread lockstitch machine.

So far it seems great. The "cheap" models just don't work right and are a pain to use. This one is designed more like an actual mini sewing machine with a fixed needle, and the presser foot controller, and also an internally placed bobbin. Like I said, so far so good, I'm glad I got it.

This is not for amateurs. Product did not work. Instructions are scant so you should be familiar with sewing before trying this. The first needle bent. Lost the second needle into the machine as I tried to replace the first broken one. It was not easy to get the needle out much less put a new one in. BTW, in the insert they tell you there is a $25 restocking fee for returning the item. Never saw this detail before I bought it. Sleight of hand, I'd say! Buyer beware.

I don't know how I survived before having this handy little sewing machine. It has been a lifesaver for me! My fiancé works two jobs: farming and construction. I'm also into crafting and DIY, so needless to say, I am always sewing something. Downtime to watch TV after a long day? More like time to head to the sewing machine, and while I do love sewing (I would be offended if he tried to do it himself, lol), it's time consuming. This little sewing machine is seriously perfect! I can sit down and watch TV while I sew, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it actually works. It's perfect for sewing hard to reach places, and I was even able to mend one of my curtains the other day -- without having to hassle with taking them down. What could have been a practically all-day process was done in less than 10 minutes, thanks to this portable sewing machine. It's extremely lightweight and definitely a space saver. Whether you're an experienced seamstress or a beginner, you need this handheld sewing machine in your life! For beginners, it's perfect for learning the basics. For sewers with experience, it's a time saver that you can take with you so that you can work on the go, and a space saver if you live in a small space and lack the room for a full-size sewing machine. Every theatre should have one on hand too, for those quick fixes in between scenes. I actually can't think of a situation where you wouldn't need to have one, especially in your craft closet if you like to make things. I'm not sure why I didn't think to invest in one of these sooner!

The media could not be loaded. It really is a handheld sewing machine! Amazing. Be patient with this machine and use scrap pieces before attempting on a project. This is perfect for my out-of-house sewing sessions with beginner users. I am able to use this as an example while my students use their full-size machines. I also love whipping this out to use when I need a simple, quick fix or have a small color change or section on a project. Pros: Simple, informative instructions with labeled pictures (does not explain spool extender) Portable, small, and lightweight Optional battery OR plug-in Easy to use “finger” handwheel Functioning bobbin pin winding hole located on top of the machine Labeled threading guide on machine Cons: -No protective bag or storage case for accessories to keep all together -No suction cup or stability base -AA batteries not included
