So if you're in the market for one of these, you know how a small portion of reviewers say these fall off, the pin comes loose, etc. I think this company is the closest to getting it right. The pull pin is part of a captured assembly, that is, it doesn't come out when you pull it, it's spring loaded and stays with the extinguisher side of the mount. The piece that contains the spring and pin is a machined cylinder and I assume is threaded into the base piece. It appears that a threadlocking adhesive was used. I could not get this piece to loosen before installing. For the extinguisher to fall off, this assembly would have to unscrew. I think with proper torque and threadlocking, they got it this time. However, there is no flat to wrench on, so not sure what they used to assemble it at the factory. That's the weak point, and in my experience so far, it's strong enough. I just got back from the roughest off roading area I know, enduring severe bumps at every angle and high speed for 30 miles and this thing stayed exactly where I put it. It does have the little detent balls to help with vibration. The only noise I have is the extinguisher's handle rattling. I have it mounted on a Can Am X3 X rc Turbo R, so it's loud and masks most other sounds. The clamps work great to secure the mount to a 2.5" roll bar, and probably a skinny extinguisher, but I had to get 5" diameter clamps for my fire extinguisher. Great customer service. They went above and beyond.... I installed this on my RZR and slid into a tree breaking the red pull handle and the pin. I asked if they would sell me just the hanlde and the pin rather than having to purchase the entire assembly again and they sent the replacement parts free of charge. Did I mention it was my fault. I was amazed. You dont find companies like this anymore. THANKS!! Works perfect to hold small fire extinguisher on my RZR. ... show more

Love the product and it seems well built. It does need loctite on the release or you’ll loose it. And the reason for the three stars is because the clamps aren’t really big enough for the rzr roll cage

The aluminum holder is super sturdy and smooth. I mounted it up in my exterior truck bed and as anyone knows from experience with "stainless steel" pipe straps, that the strap is stainless, but the bolt and bolt housing is usually not. I've had several pipe straps like this rust through and break on me at this connection when attached to exhaust pipes. Once the provided strap started rusting I cleaned it up and put some paint on the rusting parts, so it should be good now. Sorry, I only have pics after I painted it, but you can see which parts rust. Full SS straps are like $30+, so this is still a killer deal. ... show more

This mount is awesome. I actually installed it in the bed of my Dodge Ram pickup so I would have the fire extinguisher in case of a fire in my race car trailer. It simply works great. I will be ordering another one to mount in the trailer itself. Only change I would make is it would be great if there was a provision to easily lock the extinguisher in place. I came up with a bracket that bolts to the fire extinguisher itself so all is good! ... show more

I used this to attach a fire extinguisher (specifically a Home1 fire extinguisher, they're ~$20 at Harbor Freight) to the harness bar in my car. The clamps given to attach to the fire extinguisher are just about a perfect size for this task, however the ones given to attach the mount to the bar are too long for a bar like this. So if you're going out to get a fire extinguisher, get a ~$8 set of random size clamps from Harbor Freight; they do the job great. I used thin foam pads around the inside of the clamps to prevent scratching. The mount is very secure and the release mechanism works great, and has no rattle. The fire extinguisher itself, in 99% of cases, will rattle (over some bumps it'll rattle a bit, but considering how much vibration is in my car it doesn't make noise often). Some reviews mentioned the angle/curvature of the mount was odd for the bars they were mounting it to, and those people had photos of the mount installed backwards.. reference the photo in my review; if you mount it right, it works perfect. For the price, definitely can't complain! ... show more

Bought it for mounting a fire extinguisher in my JT, when it arrived I checked it over fit and finish. I didn't find anything wrong. The screw hose clamps for attachment to a roll bar and extinguisher are ok not the best but functional. The base mount has 2 screw holes for mounting that way. I thought about using one in end I just used screw hose clamps. To minimize scratches on roll bar or what you mount it to you can cover the screw clamp with heat shrink tubing or electric tape as I did. I would recommend it especially over the webbing ones if exposure to weather as of now. I will try to give updates on this if anything changes. ... show more

Solid product. Hose clamps are ugly but easily replaceable. Recommend using rubber (I used tool bod drawer mat) between the mount and bar. Mount is also shaped for a bar larger than 1.75" so it looks a bit off but it's solid once you tighten it down.
