    • Great quick release for a fire extinguisher
Works well, feels durable, has held up to high vibration in a vehicle while holding a larger and heavier than recommended fire extinguisher vertical for a few years now. Would buy again. I see many companies making similar ones made of aluminum or fiber reinforced or normal plastic all the time... but I have not seen any made in mild or stainless steel. You could get a much higher weight capacity. In particular, offroaders often use CO2 tanks in the 5-20lb size to reinflate tires, re-seat tires, run air tools, dust off, etc... Most existing mounting clamps for these tanks are not as slick with the quick release... If someone could make a nice quick release mount with a similar release as these, but for larger and heavier tanks... maybe that would do well as a product. ... show more

So if you're in the market for one of these, you know how a small portion of reviewers say these fall off, the pin comes loose, etc. I think this company is the closest to getting it right. The pull pin is part of a captured assembly, that is, it doesn't come out when you pull it, it's spring loaded and stays with the extinguisher side of the mount. The piece that contains the spring and pin is a machined cylinder and I assume is threaded into the base piece. It appears that a threadlocking adhesive was used. I could not get this piece to loosen before installing. For the extinguisher to fall off, this assembly would have to unscrew. I think with proper torque and threadlocking, they got it this time. However, there is no flat to wrench on, so not sure what they used to assemble it at the factory. That's the weak point, and in my experience so far, it's strong enough. I just got back from the roughest off roading area I know, enduring severe bumps at every angle and high speed for 30 miles and this thing stayed exactly where I put it. It does have the little detent balls to help with vibration. The only noise I have is the extinguisher's handle rattling. I have it mounted on a Can Am X3 X rc Turbo R, so it's loud and masks most other sounds. The clamps work great to secure the mount to a 2.5" roll bar, and probably a skinny extinguisher, but I had to get 5" diameter clamps for my fire extinguisher. Better to have more capacity than too little. ... show more

I used this to attach a fire extinguisher (specifically a Home1 fire extinguisher, they're ~$20 at Harbor Freight) to the harness bar in my car. The clamps given to attach to the fire extinguisher are just about a perfect size for this task, however the ones given to attach the mount to the bar are too long for a bar like this. So if you're going out to get a fire extinguisher, get a ~$8 set of random size clamps from Harbor Freight; they do the job great. I used thin foam pads around the inside of the clamps to prevent scratching. The mount is very secure and the release mechanism works great, and has no rattle. The fire extinguisher itself, in 99% of cases, will rattle (over some bumps it'll rattle a bit, but considering how much vibration is in my car it doesn't make noise often). Some reviews mentioned the angle/curvature of the mount was odd for the bars they were mounting it to, and those people had photos of the mount installed backwards.. reference the photo in my review; if you mount it right, it works perfect. For the price, definitely can't complain! ... show more

I use this on my Hard Dog Rollbar on my NB2 Miata, the quick release function works flawlessly, and I drive with my top down at decently high speeds, and even take my car drifting with this attached and had 0 issues with it slipping! The aluminum holder is super sturdy and smooth. I mounted it up in my exterior truck bed and as anyone knows from experience with "stainless steel" pipe straps, that the strap is stainless, but the bolt and bolt housing is usually not. I've had several pipe straps like this rust through and break on me at this connection when attached to exhaust pipes. Once the provided strap started rusting I cleaned it up and put some paint on the rusting parts, so it should be good now. Sorry, I only have pics after I painted it, but you can see which parts rust. Full SS straps are like $30+, so this is still a killer deal. ... show more

I needed a new place to put the fire extinguisher in my '99 Jeep Cherokee XJ and this provided the ideal mount. Had to drill and tap the rear window frame pillar for the bracket because there aren't any roll bars in a Cherokee, but the bracket has alternative mounting holes for this. The fire extinguisher is tight and secure and the release pin is large enough to be easily grabbed in this position while pulling down and out on the extinguisher body. I've driven about 1000 miles with it with no issues. I had to tone down the stainless steel bands around the extinguishern and a permanent ink black Sharpie worked just fine. I highly recommend this mount if you need one. ... show more
