  • Love this series
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Day One Edition
Exodus takes the formula of the Metro games and shakes it up. You still get some linear missions but the game also takes place over two large 'sandbox' maps. The idea of consequence that the prior Metro games attempted but ultimately failed on have been doubled down in Exodus as a few of the chapters have a consequence if you do or don't do certain things. They also don't let you know about it so you have to pay attention to what your current-for-that-chapter companion is talking about with some passion. There were a few moments that'll startle, but it is not as 'spooky' as the first two games. And the 'bullets for money' mechanic is gone (the story renders it pointless) and instead you now scavenge for material (just two types, nothing complicated) to create health packs, filters, ammo etc. The new hamstring is you can't create ammo on the fly (except for the pneumatic weapon) so things can get pretty lean at times, but that is mostly when you are dealing with mutants as human enemies will tend to drop enough to keep your pouches full. Great game series, and I'll probably play this again in the future. ... show more

  • Great end to a great series
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Day One Edition
I had a ton of friends that hated this game. The reason they hated it was the very first level and I completely understand why, but you have to make it through the first level as it's a wonky tutorial, kind of...sort of, but once you make it past all that, it's a great game. What i liked about it: Story, game play and graphics. What I didn't like about it: Super long load times and i have the XBOX One X. There was also a little too much tunnel vision in the game. You have to navigate with your flashlight through most of the game and that does get old. There were a couple of times where the game bugged out and I had to rely on a quick load to get me out. Not a deal breaker but still had to sit and wait for the load. If you're a fan of this game, you will like it. It's not as good as the first two, but it's still great and you'll be surprised on how it all ends. No spoilers here. ... show more

  • Possibly my favorite game of all time!
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Day One Edition
Metro Exodus is the most immersive game I've ever played. Between the beautiful environments and the detailed textures it makes the world feel real and lived in. The sound effects are really good with the guns being particularly excellent. The only negative aspect I noticed is some of the voice acting isn't great. This game is meant to be played with patience, take time to read people's diary entries and listen to the tape recordings. Explore interesting looking buildings and look for loot and equipment upgrades. Especially listen to the conversations of fellow crew members while on the train. The degree of love with which the developers created the world and characters is apparent throughout the whole game and makes for a truly engaging and atmospheric masterpiece! ... show more

  • Niche Game But AAA Worthy.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Day One Edition
Exodus is a very good game with minor problems. A quick-save option is a welcome addition for general gameplay, and there is now a day/night feature. Weapon customization has been greatly expanded and is reasonably streamlined. Mods can be scavenged now, no need for vendors. And ammo, filters, and medkits can be crafted granted the player has the resources. Most character models such as beasts and enemies are improved and look much better than in the past games. The graphic engine is still top-notch in my opinion. However, there are rough spots. Stealth can be clunky. Environments are large but eerily linear, and some missions are confusing. Guns get fouled at a crazy rate and have to be cleaned. The third weapon slot has been locked to “stealth” weapons only. Overall, Exodus is just as good as it’s predecessors. I’d give it 9/10. Currently it’s the best post-apocalyptic series we have on current-gen consoles. ... show more

  • Disappointing
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Day One Edition
I was excited about this release and although I have about 10 hours logged so far, I am still excited to complete the game. I feel disappointed overall and this mainly stems from the voice acting in the game. It is so bad that it takes away from the story. Every line is read as though it's the climax. Overly excited actors blurt out every time they speak. I wanted to rate this game a bit lower but I truly believe that Red Dead 2 has set the bar so high it is difficult to transition to another release. It is almost like playing a game on PC and the next game you begin to play on an Xbox 360. I hoped that there would be a bit more interaction in the Simi-open world of Metro. Another thing that constantly annoys the player is the sound of their own footsteps. It is mismatched with the speed at which you move. They should be able to fix that in an update. For me, there are a few more issues but they are consistent with the feedback from most major critics. I wanted to disagree with them going into the experience because I am a fan of these books and games, but I feel the same way. I would probably give this game a 65/100. ... show more
